With a selection of over 700 unique looking and behaving units, players can build and manage their army, fleet and air force throughout the campaigns set in the various theatres of operations during WW2. A unique system of specializations allows players to customize their forces with special units, bonuses and abilities that reflect the difference in strategies and mentality of the various factions.
A set of unique Commanders – split between Generals, Pilots and Captains – is gradually unlocked in the campaigns. These can be attached to specific units to provide unique bonuses to anything in their command range. While good use of unit types and tactics remains the player's priority, clever use of Commanders can tip the balance in an offensive operation or buy just enough time in defense to turn the tide to your favor.
In Order of Battle: World War II, a unique supply system also plays a key factor that directly affects the combat efficiency of the units. Landing on an enemy island without any support ships will prevent the invasion forces from building a solid beachhead, and breaking the supply lines of your opponent, isolating his units and making encirclement maneuvers are the strategies required to achieve an ultimate victory.
Add an intuitive in-game scenario editor, up to 4 player multiplayer support through Hotseat or Slitherine's PBEM++ server system and you have a game with endless re-playability.
December 7, 1941 – the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor left America shocked and the US Navy stunned. Glorious battleships such as USS Arizona were sunk or put out of action for. This infamous raid gave Japan a serious advantage right from the start, but they have sorely underestimated the American determination to overcome this setback and fight back the aggression. Four long years of war now lay ahead to determine the outcome of this epic struggle...
As the commanding officer of the US Pacific forces, the player is tasked to put a halt to the Japanese aggression and restore American supremacy in this part of the globe. From the early blow at Pearl Harbor to the final battles in the Japanese archipelago, recruiting new units, giving the right orders and organizing an effective supply chain are essential on the path to ultimate victory. New technologies and equipment will gradually become available, allowing players to modernize their army, fleet and airforce throughout the campaign.
In Order of Battle: U.S. Pacific you take control over the American army and fleet in some of the most iconic land and naval battles of the Pacific Theatre of WW2.

Very good game
Very complex fun game. Slower paced then panzer corps 1 and 2 If you like panzer general,panzer corps and similar games you have to play this. As a budget gamer I reccommend this on sale.

Good game ruined by greed
Let's be honest. They're charging you $200+ and growing for one game. It may be fun, but this is a very scummy thing to do especially in the middle of a global pandemic. I could never recommend this to anyone until they learned their indie game is not worth by any means 5x the price of an AAA title (which is already not worth what they charge for it).

This game is just the tutorial
While many of the lower-scoring reviews are correct in their criticism of the base game, it has to be said that the base game is actually not "the game", more just the engine. The real meat lies in the DLC campaigns. E.g. the Soviet campaigns are incredible - one or two not so good missions and the other 30+ missions excellent. The scenario set-ups and missions, the authentic feel and very good unit balance. The unit balance especially deserves praise at the points costs of the units and their capabilities are designed in a way that makes the player assemble forces over the course of the campaign that are quite organic and "historical". Even late in the campaigns, you will want a balance of units with a significant infantry frontline, artillery, mobile self-propelled guns, only a few tanks since tanks are very good but only in very specific but also essential situations. If you are interested in games like this, Order of Battle is most certainly the best game, easily better than Panzer Corps (which I found ok) because it has more advanced mechanics and better mechanical depth, BUT only if you actually get (buy) additional DLC campaigns because they are the actual game. Again, the Soviet Campaign (3 DLCs, from the Japanese border wars to Berlin) was great for its combined asking price of about 50€.
