A bug prevents the game from being completed. Patch 1.08 solves the problem but has never been released by Kalypso for the GOG version. The game as is can be played only up to the Georgia Avenue mission.
How other User mentioned there is a bug in a Maptrigger so you can’t continue after the Mission Geoge Avenue. There is now a Fix (look in the GOG Forum) : www.gog.com/forum/omerta_city_of_gangsters/george_avenue_cats_and_mouse_fix_gogversion
After the Mission it makes fun :)
This version won't work unless you buy the japanese incentive DLC, it's not that the game is bad, it's just that you pay 30$ for a product that is unplayable until you pay 15$ more without previous warning
This is version 1.06. Version 1.08 has been talked about for months now. (oh, what happened to 1.07?) Stuck, even BEFORE Georgia Ave mission. Garden Ave area, where I need to own all the casinos (I do). It's actually yet another game breaking bug that some people encounter. If you restart the area, you might be able to get around it, but I'm not even wasting my time. I got it when it was free, so I'm not going to complain too much, but now I know why it was free. Still can't finish it!
Oh, for what it's worth, I was actually enjoying the game up until the break. Decent 3-4 star game.
What awards has this game won exactly? Ignoring the Kalypso instigated reviews, it's been slated by all the independent press and web reviewers. I can only guess that the award was one that Kalypso gave themselves.
This gold edition maybe more worthy of it's price, with it's updates and DLCs included, but it only raises it to the level of average game at best. As others have said on their reviews for previous versions, there are much better turn-based games out there. I'm not saying don't buy this edition, but always wait for a GOG special offer before you do.
