Nox™

As good as I remember but it needs some patches to function on Win 11

SPOILER ALERT: it's a nostalgic review. I remember exactly the summer of 2000: it was the summer of Diablo II. My friends were going to the beach while I was working as a waiter and spending my pay on video game magazines, comics, music CDs, and of course: video games. One morning that summer, while I was in an electronics store, I happened to stumble across Nox. The video game was on offer. I immediately bought it. I went home and finished the game that same afternoon. Classic fantasy story, brilliantly and ironically told. Wonderful ambience and never repetitive. Engaging soundtrack/sounds/dialogues that accompanies you throughout the adventure. 3 classes. High replayability. It was pure fun. What a REAL video game should do. As I said; it was the summer of Diablo II and Nox didn't have the success it deserved, but that's another story...

It´s a great game in my menory, but the current version does not work on my system (Windows 11). It crashes right after the intro. I tried to patch it, then it crashed 5 minutes into the game.

This one was one of my favorites years ago, and I was hoping Nox would show up on GoG. I liked it better than Diablo simply because Nox was less of a grind-fest. I thought Nox's battles were a lot more fun and intense . . . Gauntlet intense in terms of numbers of enemies the game threw at you, but never so many you would be overwhelmed. I barely remember the story mode but am sure I never finished it which is why I want to get it again, it's time I beat this beats. But (if I recall correctly) the game also included a challenge mode separate from the main story that really did challenge the player and this is where I spent most of my playtime. I hope I'm remembering the right game because I'm buying it again tonight.

while the first diablo didn't do it for me, I was instantly hooked on Nox.The graphics were so great that my old P1 200Mhz couldn't fullt handle it. Every time I got another computer there was a moment that I would reinstall Nox and finish it with one of the three choices. Although the three paths aren't all that different, it's still worthwhile to finish each of them. To sum up: a great, funny diablo-clone that you should like if you are a fan of the genre!
