Technical issues plague the game

I have spent hours and hours troubleshooting, then more hours trying to get an acceptable performance on a PC with GTX 1080 in SLI, i7 4790 and 16GB RAM. After a lot of trial and error, it sort of works now, but I still get frequent crashes that set back my progress, and the save system is not helping. All of it makes the experience very frustrating. The gameplay so far is repetitive and bland. I read in reviews that later on in gets better, potentially, but how would I know, I cannot reach that stage with the all the crashes. GOG warned me that the review should be about my experience: well, it has been abysmal. The only reason I have been trying so hard to actually play the game is because of all the hype surrounding it. If it were another title I would have stopped the nonsense and I would have requested a full refund days ago.

Aside from the performance issues...

... The game is actually very pleasing. Sure, they promised way more than they could ever chew on, but the core of the game is there. As an exploration simulator, it's really good. Even after you learn all POI types by heart, it's still relaxing in it's own way. I'm hoping for more updates in the future, as they've announced some pretty nice stuff, so here's hoping. Also, playing on a Lenovo Y50-70 laptop, with GTX 860M and an I7. Runs fullscreen in 720p, with low settings, just to achieve a desirable framerate (60 FPS in space, 30-45 FPS on land, depending on terrain). Sure, it's far from being good, but at least it's playable. Before buying, I strongly suggest watching videos showcasing the game, as well as running a performance check beforehand, just to be sure if your PC is up for the challenge of running this game, because believe me, it is a challenge.

Bad optimization , great experience

ok, the optimization is bad but the game experience is outstanding, an infinite universe full of planets to explore. Need more variety of missions, planets, etc.. yes, its true, but its such a great idea that you must to play it.

Not Your Sky

No Man's Sky may not be the game you were expecting. It's possibly not the game I was expecting, although I didn't allow myself to be swept up in the hype too much. It is a chilled out survival game set in a proceduraly generated universe where every planet is potentially different, but really after a while a lot of them start to look quite similar! That said, it is a lot of fun, what story there is, is well written and surprising and the game can at times be incredibly beautiful. Performance isn't great at the moment, although I seem to be having a much better time than many - expect patches to improve things fairly quickly I should think.

Dig a little and you find...nothing!

Game is basic everything. There is nothing there except loads and loads of reskinned animals running around on a different coloured planet. The developers have sold a game that is an empty shell in the hope of generating some venue to keep developing it. It might not have the label "Early Access", but that is what it is - "early, early, early Access"
