It's better. Much much better now

I think No Man's Sky come a long way. It's still not the perfect game in any sense, there are still some glitches and it's still a little repetitive, and it could be a little boring for people who are looking for action, but when I saw how much Hello Games put effort to repair game and add so many new things to it, I need to say this. It's completely different games from its beginning stage, it's more complex, and it could be pretty fun for you. So I can say that it's worth to buy.

pretty amazing for an Indie game

I waited on this game to become in a good state... I'm glad I waited because the game is pretty amazing on how far it came in the last 3 years I can see my self playing this game for a while. Also one of the main reason why I bought it on GOG is the DRM Free. I really like the art in the game and the space type of game. money well spent here!

Still not great, despite all the hype

Despite all the hype from youtubers/social media, the game still isn't that great. It's so much better than it was at launch but still, all they really did was turn a 2/10 game into a 5/10 game. For the good: The game gets updates frequently, there is a fairly large mod scene, and if you can get past the ugly soulless world and dull planet generation, there is a fair bit of content to keep you busy. You can probably spend a long time with base building alone. As a whole the game now resembles what was advertised back in the day. For the bad: the graphics are still ugly, there are so many bugs, the gameplay loop is a boring grind and worst of all: the planet and creature generation is still just as awful as it was at launch. Once you've landed on a handful of planets, you've basically seen everything the game has to offer. The entire gimmick of this game is the procedural generated worlds but they never let the system go wild. I've seen more landscape variety in Minecraft of all things. As a side point, I think it's really funny how people are praising Hello Games for this "redemption story". People seem to forget that the reason NMS flopped in the first place was because Sean Murray lied to everyone's faces for MONTHS, and then vanished when people realized. Yeah it's nice he eventually gave us the game he falsely advertised, but we shouldn't be letting him off the hook and treating him like a saint for being a serial liar who eventually delivered on his lies. You want a real gaming redemption story? Look up the history of Final Fantasy XIV. Unlike NMS, that's a game that really did end up becoming a masterpiece in the end

Super mario in space

There are lots of things to do in this game, but nothing seems to have any purpose to it. You can mine loads of some meaningless mineral and use that to upgrade your mining rig to mine more of that mineral, and then build a base to store all your minerals in, but for what? The procedural generation is very impressive but you soon realise there's only a few architypes of worlds and once you've seen them they're all very samey. Combat is absurdly easy on land and absurdly hard in the skies. Also.... I know this isn't supposed to be hard sci-fi but I found the cartoony aspect of it let stylistic and frankly a bit daft. If you fly down to the surface of some planet with an unbreathable atmosphere you're fine for quite a while as long as you keep topping up your life support. But go for a swim and suddenly you've got an oxygen meter that runs out fast. This makes no sense whatsoever, but then again nothing in this game does.

Most interresting boring game

The concept of the game is amazing, just the fact that you can seemlessly take off a planet and go into space to wander off in the universe is an accomplishment on its own. You can explore, craft bases, craft giant starship, space stations, meet aliens and learn their language. The problem is that it is incredibly boring to get there. You're going to have to grind your ass to do all theses things. And it's not fun. Combat is not great and almost non existant. If there was a surivval aspect to meeting all thoses randomly generated creatures. It would break the monotony. But all theses beast do is moving randomly around their spawning location. If there was actual combat with monsters and humanoids NPCs it would have saved the game. The gameplay is akward and you cannot jump, only use the jetpack. The quest are fedex-ing you to every part of the galaxy to build stuff or activate things. Every alien NPC is some weird non binary creature without personality. If you really dig the game it's great because it gets free updates with content on a regular basis. Unfortunately I don't see myself playing more of it.
