Myst in VR

What more is there to say? It is the all time great puzzle-adventure classic in VR. Don't have VR? Then you're still getting by far the best looking version of Myst thanks to modern Unreal Engine 4 visuals. Don't bother with the ray tracing though, it ruins reflections on Channelwood Age. The VR experience is sublime. They already addressed the main shortcoming with this game, which was the awful character models. We have the original FMVs now. Another shortcoming, which is hopefully only temporary, is no Rime Age. I was looking forward to that in VR, hopefully we get to experience it one day. There's also no more day/night cycle. For those new to Myst, this is a short and sweet game that cleverly uses environmental storytelling, never holds your hand for the puzzles, has spectacular, fantastical worlds. It was way ahead of its time.

Impressive remake of the ORIGINAL Myst

There are those stating that this isn't like the original Myst. Um. They're referring to a Myst remake. If you, like me, first played Myst as released in 1993 then it is spot on except for the character models. Putting that aside it's beautiful. Beyond what I could have imagined as a child first playing the game 20+ years ago. This is a great achievement. I mean, consider this. So many classic games do not get this sort of loving remake or life in the future. It's fantastic to connect the development from the original to this version. This is pretty much as the game should be. Going back to the character models however, I do hope and expect Cyan to change that in future. It's clear that they dropped the ball. There should be an update to this version that at least includes better models. I'm confident they'll do that once they read these reviews.

Cyan blew a perfect opportunity.

I've played this game several times since it was originally released. I was very excited to play this version due to the upgraded graphics and performance. It was better than ever...BUT, they got rid of the FMV of the characters and replaced them with animated version of them. It was a horrible mistake! The characters are some of the most awful renditions of people ever. They were embarrassingly annoying. It destroyed an otherwise perfect game. But this probably means they will release yet ANOTHER version with the deleted FMV's.

Modern Myst

I think this achieves it's goal. If you've never played Myst before, this is the way to do it. It takes the mood and atmosphere of the original and recreates them in a modern presentation.

just MYST!

This remake is GORGEOUS! I've got MYST when it first came out, I believe was my first ever game on CD-ROM. Love it to pieces! Would like to ask Dev's to double-check the mapping for the puzzles on an Ultra-Wide monitor, it supports 3440x1440p Res and runs well, however, not possible to resolve puzzles and cuts vertical image, I believe it really doesn't support Ultra-Wide Res (21:9) at the moment.
