Intense and surprising game, good amount of weapons and upgrades, striking music,
and the dubbing is truly spectacular, I don't even know if it would be possible to improve, both the narrator, bosses and the protagonist himself. It surprised me by being one of the best indies I've ever played. I recommend it with confidence 100/100.
Mullet Mad Jack is a crazy, frenetic mix of different genres and media: there's the 80s action hero, there's the art of classic anime, cyberpunk aesthetics, roguelike elements and, of course, FPS. In all this, there's still time for good humor and an incredible gameplay that brings it all together in an excellent game. It's challenging, thought-provoking and a great job by the Hammer95 team.
I love the asthetics and thanks for the demo available on Steam I was able to see if I'd like the gamplay as well. And guess what, I did! This is really fun, fast paced action game, and while it is not too long (took me like 5 hours to finish the campaign - and if you are good, it's probably like half of that), the endless mode is here to rescue.
That said, I think this is unfortunately a one trick pony and after a while it gets a bit old if not dosed properly. Moreover, the "hard" difficulty levels (above what the devs intentioned) seem unfair, also the happening on endless mode every 10th level is upping the difficulty (but not as much as the hard modes). The game could use a mode with "mutators" where the player could set various game options themselves. Maybe it's there somewhere but I haven't clicked enough on menu yet..?
I described what I think could have been done better, but don't get me wrong - I highly reccomend that game. If you are not convinced, check out the demo (thank you devs!), but I think you'll not regret the money put in this particular purchase.
And of course "Remember: girls love basic higene!"
Game is ADDICTING. Really scratches that rogue-lite/like itch I get every now and again. Weapons feel really punchy and chunky, the gameplay loop is very enticing, and the visuals and humor are on point.
Some issues I have are the traversal in the levels(I get caught on the geometry sometimes), the shotgun seems to miss at point-blank sometimes, and it is easy to get turned around sometimes, although, there is a waypoint upgrade.
Overall 4/5. A really solid time!
