Better than I expected
Hadn't paid much attention to Exodus as it didn't really pique my interest from its promotional material and I expected a metro game set outside of the metro would end up loosing a lot of its trademark atmosphere and suspense. Turns out i was wrong, the story was quite interesting although very predictable and the characters were very likeable which does a lot to keep you invested in what’s happening and actually motivates you hang around and listen to all those minor conversations that they have with each other. Gameplay is largely the same as the other games but with an added crafting system which gives you good motivation to explore the open world areas in great detail looking for some extra supplies. My only issue with the gameplay is that jumping and sprinting are kinda wonky, manteling can be unreliable and if you so much as hit a bump when sprinting than best case you will glide along for a few seconds before regaining control and worst case you'll get air an end up injured when you land. The semi open world system is quite nice in my opinion and allows for segments of free exploration along with linear areas that drive the plot forwards without you having to worry about missing something important. Overall I think the game is very good, my only major issues are however are that performance and stability are pretty bad. The game needs a serious round of bug squashing since it can be a crash happy mess especially on start-up, this is largely fixed is you turn off and overlays as Exodus seems to take particular issue with those (shadowplay, GoG, etc). My other issue is that the ranger hardcore modes take away the quick save and load functionality, this wouldn't be so bad but you are inevitably going to encounter a situation where an enemy will detect you through a wall and kill you leaving you to find out that the last time the game saved was over 45 minutes ago.
