As vast alien mining cities suck the power and minerals from every major metropolis on Earth simultaneously, time is of the essence as millions of civilians are expiring by the second.
Using your stealth parachute and the now infamous "Zooming" head-mounted sniper weapon, your task is to slip in undetected from the sky, seek out and remove the alien leader by any means. Fully reactive “smart enemies” think, listen and communicate in a calculated assault on your life. Think fast and act faster against the most sophisticated artificial enemy intelligence of its time.
The main objective of the game is to basically shoot everything that moves and everything means every alien you will come across. The one and only way to stop the alien invasion is to kill'em all by any means necessary, such as the smallest nuclear bomb, surfboard-like jet or bomber plane. Your goal is simple - repulse the alien invasion and save the Earth... almost single handedly.

Had a great time with that game. The action flow is fast, the level design totally wicked and the character control is very dynamic and responsive. Not to mention that very weird humour I am very addicted to now. This reminds me of an era where you did not have enough power not to focus strictly on crazy gameplay. You just don't see that stuff anymore.
i purchased this game during the interplay promo, i really didn't know what to expect except the typical shiny crazyness.
truly the awesomess of this game caught me unprepared, from the first level to the ending scene i was amazed with the amount and quality (well compared to the time it came out of course) of content. just hearing the menu intro music already glued me on the screen.
the level design is mostly... crazy, from the stuff you can do to the actual design. but the game itself is a bit short.
the worst thing is that the gameplay isn not really fluid (at least by today's standarts) and the controls need some time for tweaking.
but apart from that you should really enjoy the game. i reccomend to finish it just to see theending outro, despite the fact that i don't have a what's it about it's awesome.
This game surprised me quite a bit. It's just really, really fun to play. The gameplay is excellent and the design is amazing. MDK is a very creative game, in every sense. It actually looks great, even today. This one definitely gets my seal of approval. Pick it up, you won't regret it!
I still love this game, but the after fighting the control scheme for an hour (which I thought I liked at the time) I just gave up and adjusted everything closer to a modern set up (mouse aim, WASD move, etc.)
The game still looks good (if a bit brown) and the mechanics are as rock solid as ever, but everything is a little less impressive than it was back in 1997.
It's great to go back and play again, or even just to see where its sequel came from and what it built on, but if you never played it to begin with you might just want to skip on to MDK2.
