Your mission: colonize new worlds on distant planets. As the Mission Commander, you and the Mechanized Assault & Exploration (M.A.X.) force under your command are the first ones in. Mining stations, power plants, tactical combat vehicle factories, habitats – it's up to you to plan and construct them.
The entire new colony? You create it. The resources you find there? Control them. Enemies? Crush 'em! And there will be enemies. You're not the only Mission Commander trying to colonize the planets. You'll have to push yourself to the limit to survive the ultimate showdown in strategic warfare. It's espionage, heavy artillery, offensives, counter offensives and intelligence – all with maximum consequences.
At its core, M.A.X. is about resource-gathering, building, and tactical combat. The game offers more than 50 land, sea, and air units, most of which can be upgraded to improve their armor, speed, and range. You can play as one of eight different factions with different advantages for each one. Discover new scenarios, units and more with the sequel - M.A.X. 2. Now both games bundled together!

M.A.X is different. Not like any other strategy games or turn based strategy games. You need to calculate everything. Find good mining spots, defend them i feed them with energy and always support your army with ammo trucks. Especially MAX1 is better ( and harder) than max2. Its atmosphere and sceniaro is delicious. Ideas are different. For example; Training Infantry is harder than making a tank. becouse you need to make some Ecospheres. oh dont u know what is it? so buy and play max ;)
This whas the first game i ever bouht and i still love it.
while the game is in turn base it is the best way to play it.
you command it all.. the army.. the scout´s.... the mining of fuel and resorces... the navy and the airforce.
up-grade your unit´s whit gold but think before you buy, not all up-grade are good for you or you don´t need them.
finding the good one´s is the trick. (i always up-grade my rance of flight for my transport plane to move my army and builders fast).
Don´t rush into battle... control your ground and resorces first and build a factory for light armor.. then plane´s so you can scout for the enemy´s location.
building def. towers on the side of the enemy is good but this game (on a good lvl of PC player) has a verry good AI.
He whill attack from behind and whit great numbers and good tactics. (really... best AI i ever saw in a gamelike this)
buying up-grade for your def tower´s (power and range) is alway´s a good way to spend your gold... don´t forget your radar range.
when going for the attack... take support whit you... like a truck for ammo and 2 repair bot´s ( so they can fix themself).
tank´s in the front (good armor and cheap to up-grade), assault gun´s in the back to kill the rest.
take there anti air unit´s and towers first so you can take over the air.
The game play is not that fast like Command and Conquer...but 10 time´s better.
think before you act... every thing in the game is expensive(really in the begining of the game)
all these tip´s are nice.. but remember 1 thing..
TAKE YOUR TIME!!!!!!!!!

but really... GET THE GAME!!!!!

The first game was simply awesome. I've played it as recently as a year ago.
Unfortunately the second game came out right when RTS games were starting to be the rage, and they thought they needed to change the entire game to be hip and cool, and in the process failed miserably.
Get this package for the first game, it's easily worth the $5.99
