The cheating AI spoils it all
This game had a lot to its name to be a great RTS. Unfortunately, the battle sequences are way too fast to make room for any tactical management. There is no real way to pause them to give orders to your troops, to alleviate this shortcoming. Also, the AI cheats relentlessly and pointlessly, building the most expensive castles out of ransacked and empty peasant villages conquered just one turn before. I would say that the game entertained me for a good while, but there are much better alternatives on the market today, even among "good old games".
