Huge dissapointment

I was a huge fan of LOTR 1 & 2, so I snatched this game up as soon as it came out in 2004. Unfortunately, this has nothing in common with the earlier games other than the name. The earlier games were turn based and had a lot of depth and you had a lot of control over your kingdom and development. This game was released during a period of time when real-time strategy was hugely successful, so they apparently decided to through everything out the window and start completely over. They shouldn't have, because this game blows.

Straight Disappointment

I also loved Lords of the Realm 2. I played it and played it and then played it some more. This game was nothing like 2..... not even close. The whole real time thing just makes it unplayable since map time continues during battle time. I was very angry after buying this game.I promptly returned it. I still own my original copy of LotR 2....

Wrong title ..... for LOTR....

Played to death the 1 and the 2 .... This release has nothing to do with previous two releases... but if you are not turn based fan you can take this one as a kind of experience ..... My low rating is because they missused the title...

Lords of the Realm 2

Three was a game that tried to improve on "2"s great gameplay by making it 3D (like every other 2D game of the time) and failed miserably. But the extra dimension alone cannot be blamed, they tried to improve on the original formula but ended up ruining it RA3-expansion style. It was a valiant effort and may be your "cup of tea" but I still remember my extreme dismantlement in buying this for $50 back in the day only to find it wasn't as good as Lords of the Realm 2. (If GOG staff is reading this, get LotR2 and you can have $10 from me)

Failed attempt in the sequel

I played this game when it was fairly new. I paid $20 for it and it was a waste of money. Now it is $2.39 and even that is a waste of money.
