Leisure Suit Larry is one of the most iconic characters in the history of computer gaming. The first game in the series, Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards, was published in 1987 and helped build the Sierra OnLine dynasty. Featured in a score of original software titles since then (not counting numerous anthologies and cameo appearances), the series' hero, Larry Laffer, is a bumbling, persistent everyman who just wants to be loved. Is that so wrong?
From original designer Al Lowe (designer of all of Larry's classic adventures) and writer Josh Mandel, Replay Games is remaking the landmark first game for a new generation. Expanded and enhanced in every detail and ready to rock your PCs. Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded is being reborn for those of you who might've seen your parents (or grandparents!) playing Larry behind closed doors.
Mature content notice: Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded contains explicit language, strong sexual themes, partial nudity and is intended for mature audiences.

I am one of the people who backed LSL: Reloaded, and I am happy to say that I got my money's worth and more.
Trying out all the different combinations of interaction with the environment to get all the great lines the game throws at you makes you spent more time in Lost Wages than you would actually need to finish the game.
But this is a Leisure Suit Larry game and although a quick finish may be in character for Larry, it would leave everyone else unsatisfied, so try staying power WILL be rewarded :)
I used to love all Larry games, and bought this instantly as it was released. But... This is not as good as the original, or not as fun. This is a solid remake and has some added and updated jokes, but still.. It's not the same. If you haven't played original, and don't like text parser based Sierra games buy this one, it's still Larry game, but otherwise I don't recommend. I think this was quite boring..
LSL Reloaded was a blast. It takes the original, and not only gives it a fresh coat of paint, but a fresh everything. There are a few twists to the classic puzzles, a new chick to strike out with, and plenty of hilarious ways for Larry to get killed. In addition, there are lots of little things- extra little bits of dialogue, responses from trying to lick things- that really make the game fun.
On top of all of this: the music and voices are great.
I was looking forward to seeing a Larry game with input from Al Lowe but this one is a disappointment. The first Larry Game is the least interesting one of all. It has only a few locations and the puzzles are only so-so. The voice of the announcer is annoying just like Larry's voice (which is probably deliberate). There are a few funny jokes here and there but nothing that made me laugh out loud. The interface remains unchanged which is a pity because I've really had it with scrolling through a list of icons since I've played Lucasart, Westwood and Revolution games. Having to repeatedly save and load in order to gain enough cash by playing the same boring game again and again also is no fun. The angry birds parody looked promising but it turns out you can't actually play the game. There is also a large amount of pixel hunting required in order to find some of the necessary items. Tying a rope to Larry's waist also took me ten minutes of precision clicking. I would still love to see one of the better Larry Laffer games like Love for Sail in HD or a completely new Larry game. But this game just isn't worth the purchase. Just play the original (VGA remake) instead.
It's a damn shame the rest of the series didn't get the remake treatment because this is the most palatable way to play Leisure Suit Larry.
Anyway, this is my first Larry experience and though the game is short and I can't play a point'n'click game without a walkthrough, I enjoyed my time with this one. Larry is a lovable loser who has his own unique charm and I wish I could play the rest of the series with those nice HD graphics. Now, to be honest, I think some of the sprites look like they're from some of those flash porn games (the M and F games, you can guess the letters), but the close-up are fantastic. I wish they had put them in the wallpapers extras because the only wallpapers is the same picture at different resolutions.
As for the game itself, it's pretty good, the puzzles aren't too obtuse but the game is a bit on the short side. I used a walkthrough whenever I was stuck and counting a restart and some amount of time spent making money at the casino, it took me five hours to beat the game.
The adult content is mostly limited to the dialogue, although you get a titillating bonus at the end of the game if you use the bubble valve from the hot tub 10 times. Other than that, no nudity to speak of, but the game's real focus is the humor anyway, there are some funny bits here and there as well as some funny Easter Eggs. All around, a fun experience.
Overall, it's a solid effort that made me want some more, the graphics are beautiful and the interface works well. Although the raunchy, erotic themes might hurt modern sensibilities, people who don't take this game too seriously will have a fun time. I hope that someday, Al Lowe remakes the rest of the series, as I'll probably find them easier to enjoy with a modern touch. But for now, I recommend this one, just get it on sale, as it's a very short game.
