Welcome to Mega-City One, a city of over four hundred million people and everyone of them a potential criminal. Stretching the length of the 22nd century American eastern seaboard, Mega-City One is the most dangerous city on Earth, for it is calculated that one serious crime takes place every second of every day. So dangerous, it demands a special breed of law enforcer.
Here, there are no police, no trials and no juries, only the Judges. It takes fifteen years to train a Judge for life on the streets of Mega-City One. Fifteen years of iron discipline, rigid self-control and concentrated aggression. Most feared and respected of all Judges is Joe Dredd, a man vested with the power of instant sentencing, a man whose court is the streets and whose word is the Law!
Multiplayer notice: The game's multiplayer servers have been taken offline and the only multiplayer option available is LAN.
Become the most famous and badass law enforcer of the grim future
TLDR:
Armor Piercing is the best cause it's got the best aim.
Bad levels, really simplistic textures. The game is hard to look at on the whole. Totally skippable experience, even if it does some kinda cool stuff with the main weapon.
REALLY limits the ammo on those last levels.
I love a mindless FPS. I also love the ~one unique idea this game has: arresting NPCs. There's a key bound to arresting neutral NPCs, and you can go after any of them. It's silly and completely unique.
Other than that, this game is short on ideas and on polish. The gameplay is unpleasant, because many enemies are have hit scan attacks and Dredd's weapons don't feel impactful. You just shoot at enemy NPCs while they shoot at you. Then there are zombies. It might be fun for some people to breeze through it on the normal or easy difficulties.
It's the rare action-FPS that just feels tedious. I wasn't able to finish it due to boredom.
Cool gun: multiple modes, high impact, incendiary, etc.
Cool story and protagonist: you are the most feared of all the Judge's, an elite group of law enforcers with maybe a little too much power.
Cool game mechanic: sure, you can blaze a bloody swath through the city, but you can also arrest perps, and doing so before one of them shoots at you can send them to the slammer for some hilariously mundane "crimes"
Cool art: some enemies are very imaginative, and it's a far cry from the brown, brown and grey shooters of today.
It's nothing life-changing, but it's a fun fps, and gog could certainly use more of those. WELL worth the $6.
I remember purchasing this title when it was first out and even by that days standarts the game was not worthy of being a judge dread game. Think again before purchasing this one, as there are better first person shooters here in GOG.
