Successor with much future potential

I loved JA1 and 2 and played them for years including mods and 1.13. The off spins during the recent years did not even come close to that gameplay. Just for the sake of gameplay fun: Watch a few youtube videos first or read a quick start guide before playing. Most of the negative reviews I read, seem to be based on the play style. Chose a more difficulty level, try not so save/load every time something bad happens and really make more strategic decisions. Split up teams, use all the weapons, but prefer upgrading instead of an arsenal for every merc. Put the corresponding ammo in the mercs inventory instead of keeping it all in the team inventory. And try some mods. This was a very smart developer decision and I am sure it will keep the game alive for a long period of time.

Nostalgic vibes

The game is not perfect, but I still get the JA 1-2 and 90's action movies feeling, with a decent tactical game behind it. Definitely a lot better game than some previous tries. I love the mercs, their personalities and the little remarks during conversations. I laughed a lot. The fact that it's fully voice acted is a big plus.

X-Com free run into cover ruins game

Enemies always get a free turn after you begin combat or get spotted during an ambush attack and that ruins this games tactical gameplay. So what happens is that enemies get a free turn to run into cover after an attack or failed attack and then can attack you instantly. You then get to continue your turn but it is not a real turn because you will have no action points so then the enemies get another turn to attack you. It is like they took the worst aspects of JA: BiA live action movement and ambushes and meshed them with a weird X-Com-a-like system instead of just making a more modern JA 2. Then you have the loot in which you can fight an enemy with an AK-47, a helmet and a flak jacket but when you go to loot them they might have maybe a broken pistol if you are lucky so the loot is all sorts of messed up; also enemies have infinite ammo and you are lucky to loot any ammo. Just stick with JA2 and 1.13 JA 2 because this game fails to deliver on the Jagged Alliance name and instead tried to copy the X-Com remake and made it more frustrating.

Very fun game, but..

Usually I do not write reivews but I could not resist in this case. I loved Jagged Alliance 2, one of not many games I have actually finished back in a days. They have exceeded my expectations with this game and Jagged Alliance 3 is very well done. Not many games keep me wanting to continue to play it. However the biggest issue that makes it very hard to play is constant crashes and endless Loadings in rare cases. On my first day playing it I had to end game process like 8-10 times. Currently it's not playable for me. My Computer spec: 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13900K (32 CPUs) 65536MB RAM NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090

Tired of bullet sponges

The enemies support an absurd quantity of shots, even unarmored enemies. I understand it in games where we are fighting some kind of monsters or aliens, but simple humans that need more than 4 shots to be disabled, is absurd and boring. I have parked the game because I was tired of the encounters. I ended being more afraid of the waste of ammunition than of the injuries that my mercenaries could suffer.
