As the Cold War drew to a close, the world believed that peace would reign across the globe. It seemed that a new age had dawned, an age of lasting unity between nations, but this was not the case. Instead the fight for global supremacy had only been forced underground into the battlefield of covert ops and evil acts of terror.
Into this arena sprung a new force. Masked behind the guises of subterfuge, plausible deniability and information management, the Institute for Geotactical Intelligence raised the sword against those who would subjugate the world.
Though the malignancy of terrorism has broken our world on occasion, the global crucible has not yet boiled over into World War III. For that thank the one-man army David Jones and the forever-unsung heroes of IGI.

This was the best and first awesome sniper game (I ever played), except for the original IGI. The graphics were awesome for the time, and for a long time afterwards. I still remember attacking that first compound, many times. I NEVER got tired of it, it was based on great sniping, timing, and skills. Game is one of my personal all time greats. That and the original Soldier of Fortune.
I remember playing this back in like 2004 when i was 15 years old. Even back then i realized the game was very unpolished and not very well made but i still had fun with it. Playing it now i think it's even worse (probably due to almost 20 years of newer, better and more polished games) but it's still kind of an interesting game with unique systems, such as the limited save feature due to the tablets battery power and the pretty diverse locations your in. But there is simply too much wrong with it for me to recommend it to anyone who hasn't played it. The A.I. is horrible (which kind of negates the point of playing it as a tactics game), the gunplay and especially the mouse is extremely choppy and i haven't found a way to properly smooth it out and there are tons of smaller issues and bugs everywhere. Overall i think it was never that great, even for a 20 year old game. It's only merrit is that it's funny because it's so bad, kind of like a terrible movie you watch simply because it's bad.
This is for me is a love hate relationship. The game itself is great. 007 meets COD but the fact you have to repeat the missions over and over until you get it right with no saves or checkpoints is a killer for me. Its simply a way of making a really short game seem alot longer. Why not make the game alot longer with checkpoints or saves?Their is no way you can go into missions thinking " I'll take my time and plan my attack ". No you will be repeating missions over and over until you either understand the structure and positioning of the enemy then understand what you need to do. Strange that the more stealthy you play the harder the game seems to be. I ended up bypassing areas by running rather than steathly going through. Sometimes the best solution was to find a corner so I could see what was coming at me and simply shoot soldiers one by one as they attacked.
If you dont mind repeating missions over and over till you get it right and learn the areas its worth the time to play. If not the stay away. But there is some fun to have if you can tolarate its no save tactic.
This Game Has Proven to be the best in its time and still does tops the modern call of duty games.
What Really is a basis of this game is stealth and resource management unlike COD Games.
It Revolutionized Fps genre
IGI 2 has long been a divisive game, while some players appreciated its stealth-focused gameplay, large maps, and tactical depth, many were frustrated by its flaws. Poor AI, clunky controls, and awkward mechanics often made missions more frustrating than fun. The stealth system, which was supposed to be the game’s highlight, felt broken, forcing players into tedious trial-and-error gameplay. The plot was confusing, and the linear mission design in some areas disappointed fans of the more open-ended original IGI.
Even though this game has it's flaws it played a big part in the childhood of many people, me included, unfortunately the game is riddled with issues which only the IGI2 Neonix Patch was able to fix. This community-driven update addresses many of the issues that have plagued the game since its release.
- The patch fixes the broken cursor, making the game less frustrating to deal with.
- FPS animations are now smoother, and camera bugs that disrupted the gameplay are corrected.
- The stealth mechanics now work as intended, allowing for smoother interactions and less reliance on trial and error.
- It also includes quality-of-life improvements, such as custom FOV adjustment, widescreen HUD fixes, and resolving various minor bugs.
So if you even wanna play this game, make sure you use the patch.
