Worth the wait
If you enjoyed Hollow Knight, then you'll enjoy Silksong. Everything has been elevated to greater heights. The map, combat, visuals, and music. Special shoutout to the design of the map. It not only feels bigger, but more interconnected. Secret walls and paths are everywhere. Exploration is pure joy. You think you explored all areas and are in the end-game? Here's a new area. Music is absolutely beautiful. Hollow knight had a few memorable tracks (personally), but Silksong has so many. Hornet is adorable and fun to play as. You're provided several combat "styles" depending on your preferences or the situation. Also, tools/traps. Use them. I mention difficulty below but you NEED to use them to counter it. You know how you always ignore secondary/tertiary attacks in a lot of games because it's just mentally easier to mash the main attack? Not here, especially with flying enemies. The tools you're given do a surprising amount of damage and genuinly are useful. Especially for boss and arena fights. The only gripe, a minor one, is health. Here's an example: Boss fights. In Hollow Knight the fights felt slower, giving you time to make mistakes and learn from them in the moment. In Silksong, however, the pace feels much faster. Not just the attack patterns, but how long the fight lasts and how many mistakes you're afforded. In the early game it's 3 hits and you're done. Keep in mind, all boss attacks hit for 2 health, even if you touch them. In short, the difficulty is much higher. Whether this is good/bad is up to you. I would't call Silksong "more Hollow Knight" or DLC. It doesn't feel like you're playing the same game. Especially considering the scale of it. In summary, Silksong is absolutely worth the wait and I can see why it took so long to make. It oozes the same heart, soul, and passion that's in Hollow Knight. A more than worthy follow-up.
