Sadly the game's save function doesn't work (tested on Manjaro Linux with wine). Quitting the game and starting it again deletes all progress, settings and whatsoever.
Looks like a good game tho...
These days I don't have a lot of time to dive into super tactical strategies and spending hours upon hours researching builds, so something like this that captured the look of older RPGs while utilizing some fun modern day mechanics of auto-battling, with a mix of chaotic RNG was right up my alley! I played a couple of runs and then shut it off to get back to work.
When I got back however, all my progress was lost and I had to redo everything. Testing again, I did another run, shut it down, turned it back on...progress lost.
I'm giving it a 5 because I see the potential and I know it will be my go to lunch game or in between stuff game, but I would say wait until they correct the bug that is causing all progress to be lost. Hopefully it gets fixed soon!
I LOVE strategy, turn-based roguelikes like this game, so I may be a bit biased - but this game is really phenomenal so far. It was a bit trial and error to understand the meaning and impact of certain decisions, items, etc., at first, but it's easy to catch on. No single play through is the same - you face a different boss sequentially each time. So far, a huge amount of it is strategy, but there's obviously a lot left up to chance and the decisions you make, such as having (1) 'tick' of day/night time spent with every 5 steps. The achievements are super fun and witty, referencing a lot of old memes and pop culture, etc. I still haven't gotten past a 3rd boss yet, so we'll see how it goes with another hour or two of play!
This game is gorgeous in its marvelous simplicity. The runs are snappy and exciting, with just the right amount of randomness to keep the thrill of exploration and discovery alive, always pushing you toward just one more try. And what to say about the graphics—it's like traveling back to the ’80s and treating yourself to a feast of elegant ZX Spectrum beauty. Addictive as hell!
P.S. Running on Windows 11 — no saving issues so far.
