Polar opposite of Thronebreaker

- You can't build your own individual deck, only expand card by card.. - ..only to lose it all when you make one mistake and have to start all over - You can only choose between 4 base decks - No depth to the story. It's just a few unremarkable comments from the characters, and some extremely short cinematics (though admittedly I haven't played past a certain point as I can't bear it anymore) - no design variety. It's the same map all over again - you may get annoyed quick as you face the same few leaders every time, as obviously once you lose you have to start all over again - I expected Gwent Multiplayer Rewards, like with Thronebreaker, but it seems there are none (excluding the premium version, I obviously mean rewards that are unlocked by playing Rogue Mage) If you haven't played Thronebreaker, go and buy it right away - it's a masterpiece and you'll have a blast. This game here is just sad and the only way I can justify buying this for myself is by viewing it as a donation towards CD Projekt Red's future.

Meh

Not being able to build your starting deck is frustrating to say the least, the limited capacity to change it as you go doesn't help as much as you would hope in building your deck. Additionally the balance of the enemies seems way off from easy to seemingly impossible with little to no balance.

Great Game !

Superfunny game, if you can get it for 5-6 bucks it is a steal ! About negative reviews, it is AN HARD GAME, but there is plenty of space to win. And yes you do not use only your cards, but bonus around the map, and your character's powers to win a run. NORMAL. As a player it is NORMAL that you should use everything you have got to reach and kill every boss. Buy that if you are looking for a game with GOOD GAMEPLAY, and almost no-story. Something that you play while listening your favourite youtuber, an audiobook, and so on. I really like those kind of games ! 8.5 out of 10 for me !

Nostalgic but mostly boring.

First of all, I was really hyped for this expansion. I really would like to play Gwent but this game gives me a hard time. First of all, you have to spam one of the 4 decks that are available to you and you cannot change much in them. There are some spells and "core" cards that you can swap but the selection is not overwhelming either - for this reason, I find it pretty boring at times. Of course, you get upgrades through the run but they are very RNG based and don't compliment a deck at all - so forget about flashy 10-card combos and crazy synergies with your normal deck cards. The second thing that kind of made me sad is the fact that there are literally ZERO things to do between the runs, you can't craft cards, you can't power up your deck or hero, and you start every run as bland as it was the during the first one. No, even worse because during the first run you have a pretty powerful ally on the board which disappears after you beat the first boss - so your experience effectively worsens. And worst of all is the fact that cards are not animated... what the heck guys? This is pretty much Slay the Spire: Gwent Edition, which I disliked too for the same reasons mentioned above. In my opinion, a Hades approach is much better where you can get slightly better even if you mess up a run you can still feel the slight progression on the next run. Only 3 stars because I felt that nostalgia of playing Gwent once again, wish it offered deeper progression and much more lore-wise. 8$ is a fair price though.
