One of my favorite shooters in old gens

I love this game, I love Neversoft games, it's impressive this game runs on the same engine as the Tony Hawk titles and is so competent for what it seeks to be. Shooting is great and tight as hell to pull off, the difficulty is fantastic, the open world is not too big but just about right, looks great for the time, has fun mechanics, and a great story with a soundtrack that heightens the experience. The only thing I must point out is its price, $20 is a little steep for a game that is available cheaply on other platforms, even Xbox 360, if GOG can at least take this criticism in all fairness then please do. Otherwise, if they keep the price, just wait for a sale or even grab it on the older consoles, some you can get it for like $2.50 for just the disk itself on like GameCube.

A underrated gem.

In a time where we now have masterpieces like Red Dead Redemption 2 and it's predecessor Red Dead Redemption 1, Gun is perhaps forgotten. Developed by Neversoft and published by Activision back in 2005. GUN actually predates Red Dead Redemption 1 by about 5 years considering the later came out in 2010. Red Dead Revolver however did come out a year earlier. There really haven't been that many video games set in the old west. GUN isn't a perfect game. It's visually a bit dated now. But it's a fairly decent open world sandbox romp with a fairly engaging story throughout. You probably won't remember it years from now in the way other games stick with you. But you can certainly still have a blast playing it. The voice talent is solid. Kris Kristofferson even lends his voice to the main character (Colton's) father. The mission variety is nice and you will find there are an equally varied assortment of weapons to use as well. There is one weapon in particular that can be obtained at the end that is an absolute riot that I won't spoil here. The price is a bit steep for a game this old. I don't know what kind of work they had to do to get this game running on modern hardware though. If you enjoy westerns I think you'll enjoy GUN. It's a more immediate adventure and takes less time to get going than the long epic that is Red Dead 2.

Good game

A little pricey for a game your really only going to play once maybe twice. Not because it's bad, the gameplay is solid, the story is well thought out, the things you can do in between adds some hours, honestly it's like a smaller GTA sandbox game in scope and content. But I still recommend it cause it's a western on the PC (we don't get many of those), and you can do alot worse.

Red Dead Redemption's Cool Uncle

I love this title and the old west! Compared to where RDR went of course it’s not quite on that level, but as a fun western based adventure it really hits the mark. Great settings, good gameplay and not too long (which I like) make for a great gaming experience. If your looking to scratch the wild west itch on GOG, pick this one up.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

I remember playing this game on my Playstation 2 and I can safely say that GUN has aged well in some areas but, sadly, many aspects leave much to be desired. The graphics, even though they can not be considered as good as they were at the time, give a peculiar charm to the game. Gunplay is good, but is diminished by the player's failure to buy ammunition from sellers (who only sell several upgrades) for their preferred guns, being forced to use weapons with ammunition that is easier to find, in that case usually being the rifle or the pistol, the only weapon with infinite ammunition. The gameplay is good but it has its problems, not affecting the game experience but, for example, I never imagined how I would miss being able to run faster with the character! The story is good but extremely short for an open world game and can be completed in less than 5 hours regardless of the difficulty chosen, being that the side quests are extremely repetitive, bringing no great visible benefit, with the exception of the little money gained. I still consider it a good game but I definitely do not recommend buying full price. Today, we have games with the same theme and with a quality far superior to this game, Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 being the best known, but I do not take the merit that GUN had and still have!
