I was expecting great things from this game and OH BOY it was even GREATER !!!
If you're looking for a new game who will grab you by the feeling GO FOR IT, buy it two times if you need but DO IT.
Thanks Nomada for creating this beautiful gem.
Im so happy i paid the price without waiting for an offer or anything like that. Nowadays, you almost feel stupid buying a Game full Price, only to see an ingame Store that says, hey, heres that time saver, Outfit or loot box, your not a real Fan if you only pay 50 Dollars.
This Game is pure Art, at the end i cried just because of the music and the Pictures and how powerful it felt. So thank you Nomada for being awesome and thank you Devolver for always trying to support these great Projects. <3
Nomada Studio's Gris is a relaxing and serene yet deeply emotional experience. Through the game's genius use of color and music, which potentially represent different stages of grief, the breathtaking visual and auditory experience beautifully narrates the story of overcoming loss without any spoken dialogue. Technically, the two aspects of Gris that really stand out to me are the visuals and the soundtrack. Every moment in the game is so meticulously crafted that any scene could serve as a stunning wallpaper. The soundtrack is easily one of the best in video games. I acknowledge that I am biased since I love serene piano compositions and ambient musical pieces, but most importantly, the music not only complements the visuals but also drives the narrative effectively, making Gris's emotional experience even more profound. Although Gris is not among my all-time favorite games and its simplistic gameplay makes it challenging to rate super highly, I strongly recommend that everyone play it. For me, Gris transcends the boundaries of a typical video game; it is a work of art meant to be admired and pondered. And in a world where some still question whether video games can be considered art, Gris makes a compelling argument in favor of their artistic values without uttering a single word.

Having seen many games fall foul to style over substance, I was assuming that I'd be getting a somewhat hollow experience once the inital veneer of the visuals had worn off, but I was more than happy to find that this game was pretty much a perfect fit for my gaming habits these days.
I don't play a lot of games now and so am very selective and choose carefully. I don't have the energy for massive, sprawling time sapping games so a game really has to speak to me to want to spend time/money on it. This purchase was a bit of a gamble but I'm really happy to have experienced it.
The visuals are absolutely sumptuous, and I'd go as far to describe the animation as honey. It flows beautifully whether that's the cloth dress licking in rythmic waves when you move, or the super dynamic fluid like animation of the large 'creatures'. Stunning work indeed. Audio is very nice and compliments the visuals and wraps up the game universe very nicely.
Gameplay isn't tough but at the same time it felt perfectly engaging for me. I didn't really have any head scratching moments to speak of in terms of how to progress but I didn't feel like I was 'on rails' especially either, and there is a fair amount to explore and discover. I really took my time as I wanted to soak it all up and I felt the game deserved this as it's clear that a lot of love has gone into this..
I feel like I've invested my time wisely with Gris and I'd highly recommend it to people that appreciate an 'experience'.
ps I keep finding random games that look interesting and they all seem to be published by Devolver. I'll be sure to keep an eye on their future releases!
