Simply terrible, don't be fooled
Don't be fooled by people saying it's great game. It is not. RPG game but with no good story? With terrible characters and quests being ALL simply go and take/kill missions? So maybe good fighting? Nope. As terrible as it can be. Even with max lvl lonely wolf can kill you with ease because of unstoppable combo. Animals are much bigger treat than most powerful orc warrior. What is great? Beautiful world and really great music. That's all. And even that world feel bad as cites are simply copy and paste locations with no climate, with no background stories, no lore at all. And so called old ruins. Same everywhere... Pros: +music +world (beside cities) Cons: -fighting -story (no story) -quest (mmo like) Worth trying? Well, maybe. Honestly I don't regret travelling trough that beautiful world. As a walking game to relax you can try it. BTW community patch is a must have but it is NOT a savoir. It makes fighting with groups of enemies very hard as they constantly blocking all your attacks.

Helpful Cheat Notes
I love this game. The graphics are aging but the story and gameplay are excellent. Also, the dev console codes/cheats allow more replay enjoyment - once you understand a couple things: To give yourself Coins: give It_Gold x x is the number of Coins (gold/money) you want added to your inventory. Some of the keyboard keys have different assignments in the G3 console: the hyphen key '-' is swapped with the forward slash key '/' so you have to type SHIFT+/ to get an underscore '_' in the console. the letters 'y' and 'z' are also swapped. Reference: http://www.worldofgothic.com/gothic3/?go=g3insert_trinkets To get the dev console while in-game, you have to edit the ge3.ini file (at your own risk) line from 'TestMode=false' to 'TestMode=true'. Path: [Game Folder]\ini\ge3.ini

Underrated gem
Playing in 2024 with the fan made community patch, update packs, parallel universe and union plus installer makes gothic 3 a great experience. Melee combat can be frustrating at the beginning but you can really feel the progression once you level up a bit and learn the timings. Soundtrack absolutely nails it in this game.
