A build containing the Union Patch is now live in GOG Galaxy and via offline installers. The classic version of Gothic is available on "Vanilla" public branch in GOG Galaxy and as an offline installer in "Extras" section.

Would Love To Give This A Try, But...
The amount of precofiguration and troubleshooting to get this one up and running is a bit aburd. Three pre patches (one of which gets flagged as risky software), mouse issues, and how easily it locks up GOG Galaxy. Not a Good Old Game - just an Old Game that really doesn't work without a lot of patience and tweaking. I'll wait for the remake.

Average Role Playing Game
Gothic is a fine game, but it is no way remarkable. It does a rather commendable job of establishing atmosphere, but the mediocre gameplay mechanics prevent it from obtaining true timelessness. It is by no means a bad game, but it is only worth the grind if you are really desperate for a role playing game fix. The are direction is acceptable, but the really standout aspect is the musical score. I found the orchestration and ambient sounds to be very compelling. A soundtrack is included with your purchase, so that is most certainty a plus. In short, it packs more than enough content to justify a $9.99 USD purchase, but it will most likely not hold your interest for any amount of time. I'd suggest looking elsewhere for a really stellar open world role playing experience.

OFG broken as ever
Ok so I bought this game by rec a long time ago and it barely worked clearly not compatible with any modern hardware. I have since played it on 3 computers some with pretty serious gaming hardware and now it won't even launch. Seems like would have been a decent game if I could play it but this is broken. I'm really getting tired of this I buy games supposedly patched to modern OS and they are garbage. Here and on Steam this happens and there is nobody to get support with.

Could Not Get it to Work At All
Gave up trying. Even after following directions to patch it, it still would not work. I really wanted to play this game.
