Great concept, but feels unfinished

The mix of many genres and types of gameplay is great but it really feels unfinished. There should be more variety within the particular genre, because it becomes repetitive. Mostly you don't notice it because of the fast pace and because of the gameplay type changes, but sometimes it really hurts the game. The jetski races in Delphi's segment are bad and then the whole last act, where you play as titular Kabuto feels like developers ran out of money and/or ideas bacause not only it's the simpliest and most repetitive segment but unlike the previous acts, it lacks any story developement and those great hilarious cutscenes. What a pity. The RTS missions are the most complex but unfortunately they're very simple too, there is no enemy AI and mission objectives and gameplay are always the same. And there is not many of them. Because of this, Giants are a perfect game for kids or for adults, who just want to play something simple and relaxing for a while but personaly I would prefer something more elaborate.

Nirth Giants Citizen Kabuto

This game was one of the few I bought here at GOG.com knowing nothing about them except for the word kabuto which I misread from a game I played at Playstation 1 when I was a child. Anyway, suffice to say the suprise while not the best game in the world was very positive. The humour and by the suprising interesting main story and atmosphere in the game makes this for unique 3rd-person action game with a touch of few to several strategy elements that made the missions both more enjoyable, added replay value and the chance for some very competetive multiplaying sessions. Unfortunately I can't help but think that this game does feel like an unfinished product made by a ambitious game developer team that had the release the game before it was polished. Does not suffer from many technical issues (except with mods but not major) but game elements seem simplistic at first eye but fun nevertheless. A big plus for the cool and badass middle when you play as the Delphi the Sea Reapers.

I don't get it

My best friend always said this game reminded him of Black & White so that's what I was expecting. Maybe that's coloring my opinion and I hate when that happens. Having played into it about a half-hour, I see what he meant; the art style is very reminiscent of B&W (while not seeming like a rip-off or a parody). Maybe I just haven't played enough into it but I really don't see the appeal. I remember a couple of my friends going nuts over this game back in the day but this is the first I've tried it. I see the charm in the art style/visual design and the story is nice but I just don't see the allure of the gameplay. I'd be very interested in an updated version with a revamped control scheme. The game's not "bad" and if I'd played it back then I'd be playing the shit out of it now and loving every minute of it. But as something new, it's not grabbing me faster than any of the other Great Old Games I've played recently.

Funny, Fun and Challenging at times

Agree with Jopalnu totally, this game is while clearly dated graphics wise was and still is a superb game and this game defiantly stands out til this day still, they defiantly don't make games with this sense of humour these days if at all. Challenging well for me at some parts which was good and funny story line made me laugh a fair bit, also rated below off my own personal experience and to be a somewhat guide for people like me. FUN - 8/10 STORY - 9/10 CUSTOMISATION OF CHARACTER - 4/10 - only got 4 as you could change load out via ingame shops on mission maps CONTROLS - 10/10 IN GAME SOUNDS - 8/10 MUSIC - 4/10 - gets annoying GAME VOICING FOR CHARACTERS - 10/10 GRAPHICS AND RESOLUTION - 5/10 MAP & OBJECTIVES - 2/10 - map terrible (you wont use it) 2 only due to objectives easy to check SAVING - 0/10 as check point based - i dont like check points hence 0 CHARACTER BONDING - 10/10 - for me I suprisingly cared about my and npc characters MY OPINION TO PLAY OR NOT - DEFIANTLY worth your time and effort and if you are sitting on the bench still then wait til on sale but I enjoyed playing it
