IMPORTANT TIP: If you're experiencing crashes when you boot the game up, exit out and run a file validation. I'm not sure what the exact problem is, but the crashes appear to be tied to the Unreal Engine. Validating the files remedied the problem for me the first time, so it should work for you as well. Disappointed with the way Cyberpunk turned out? Looking for something that'll quench your inner masochist? Ghostrunner is the game for you, my friend. As a fan of games like Hotline Miami and Katana Zero, I throwing myself into games that seek to test my focus (and patience). Make no mistake: this game will push your limits and then some. Many reviews have already pointed out that this is not meant for causal gamers, and I can't stress the validity of those statements enough. If games like Dark Souls turn you off, avoid Ghostrunner at all costs. Though I would like to give this game 5/5, the primary factor keeping me from doing so is the parkour. As heart pounding as it is, there are times where things like wall running don't seem to register 100% of the time. I hope that gets fixed in a future patch, because if it does, I'd be more than happy to modify the score.

This game will challenge your reflexes. The best way to describe it as a combination of Katana Zero and Mirror's Edge games in Cyberpunk 2077 like settings. Beautiful visuals, great music. Cool , hard game.

Mirror's Edge has the better parkour by far. Ghost Runner's parkour is half-automatic. So the only thing left is the fighting. With parkour being such a big part of this game this is a real shame. In ME you had to learn the controls and you got into a flow. In Ghost Runner you simply press one button and you MAGICALLY are glued on a wall or gain super much momentum. Never do you have to think about the angle, how much momentum to build up, you never fear to fall off a wall, since it's one button press and a magnet or glue anyway. In Ghostrunner you never get a feeling for momentum and flow, since it's all automatic. The only thing that is difficult are the one-shot enemies. But this has nothing to do with the parkour. The parkour itself is awful. Better play Mirror's Edge from 2008. Better in the important aspects of a parkour game in EVERY way. Ghostrunner is more like Hotline Miami with parkour attached on top as an afterthought and compromises like instant momentum and magnetic walls.

OK, so this is a die & retry platformer FPS. I actually love it : it is unforgiving, but very rewarding. The art and music are excellent and help you reach maximum concentration. However, as others have mentioned, there is a design choice that will forbid me to complete the game. I'm too late for a refund, and wish I had paid more attention to this "detail" before buying. So, this game has numerous checkpoints. However, if you leave the game, they are not saved, and you will have to restart the entire level. Whilst barely noticeable at first, this becomes a real problem as the levels get longer and harder. To make it short : don't buy this if you can not afford regular 1H+ sessions. The game will mechanically kick you out, making global progress artificially and painfully slow. I understand this "selectiveness" might flatter some people with enough time on their hands, however it cuts out a large part of the potential public, when a simple "dad mode" might have solved that. It is a pitty, really, since I know now I will never buy Ghostrunner 2, whereas I love the gameplay so much. :-(

Neat game with some cool ideas, but there is just an obvious lack of polish or playtesting. Tons of times you lose momentum in the game or the controls will actually fail to work until you restart. (Issues with jumping off drones, walls not running, phasing through rails, etc) The game is also incredibly short for the value. The whole game with maybe 70 percent of the secrets was only 4.5 hours. Not really something I would recommend to a friend unless they really wanted a themed fps slasher. Nice visuals.
