Gemini Rue

I began playing Wadjet Eye games with the Blackwell series and thought they were pretty nice. But this one tops them all. I was going to give it 4 stars because the interface is a little clunkier and some puzzles are very frustrating for nothing, but the last act of the story is worth the extra star. It's straight out of a Philip K Dick novel, and alot like Beneath a Steel Sky in the atmosphere, with less goofiness. Worth playing until the end!

The Low tones, music, perfectly fit this type of game! Hats off to Joshua Nuernberger! The cursor mechanics made interaction with the environment quick and easy. Thought provoking story. Very intriguing. Did get the odd halfscreen blackout upon reloads which was fixed by simply walking off a screen then coming back. Other than that, sailed through it without a glitch! I was looking mainly for the adventure aspect so the simple easy to manage combat system was welcome. To say I liked this game would be an extreme understatement. I had high hopes for this game, I love BASS and this is certainly similar, I like Wadeye Games and I did enjoy this game but not as much as I expected. Let's start with the graphics they have a BASS Amiga look to them but after all these years, they just aren't as good as a 28 year old game designed for an Amiga, It also lacks the humour and I think I may of been hoping for something similar, the GUI system can sometimes be confusing. So is it a bad game , nom is it a great game, well thats also no. It's a good game but is quite wide of great

I like point and click adventures, but they don't get made very often anymore. I decided to splurge on this from steam once upon a time and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was never unfair, the story was good, and the characters were also good. It may have been a bit on the short side, and there is no real replayability. The graphics are pixel art, but for some reason I like that. The thing about pixel art is that it can feel serious without a huge art budget. That way it avoids cartoony feeling of many other adventure games.

Absolutely loved this game. It has dated graphics, but the story and game play is superb. The biggest thing for me was the setting: A sort of dystopian future with a real grimy cyberpunk feel to it. It's not overly challenging with puzzles for an adventure game, but not easy enough to call it a spoon-fed adventure. The story is unprecedented, it's almost like a good book, you'll find yourself hooked on it and eagerly playing to see what happens. At the end of the game, I was in awe, reflecting upon what was one of the best games I've ever played, and yet never heard of. It's also worth mentioning the music is top notch with many memorable tracks. "Sayuri" being my favorite. Completely sets the atmosphere. If you don't own this, and like adventure games, and Cowboy Bebop (if you've seen the anime, you're in for a treat, as there are in-game cameos of the characters!) Get it right away!
