Gemini Rue

"Gemini Rue" is an amazing cyberpunk noir adventure with a deep, immersive story and a gritty atmosphere. I love its pixel-art aesthetic, the engaging narrative, and the way it blends classic point-and-click gameplay with a cinematic feel. The mystery and world-building keep you hooked, and the game’s themes of identity and memory make it truly thought-provoking. The voice acting and soundtrack also add to the overall experience, making it a must-play for fans of sci-fi adventures!

This game is really rather enjoyable. I found myself saying 15 more minutes and letting hours pass by. The writing isn't dostoevsky, but is quite engaging and had me wanting to discover where things would go and the puzzles rarely descended into the pixil hunting that plagues many p&c's. a great game!

Don't let the low-res graphics put you off. This game is a must for the serious adventure gamer. Not because of the difficulty of the puzzles, in fact it's of average difficulty at best, but for the great story and mood. This is a sci fi noir/thriller that borrows elements from Total Recall and Blade Runner but still ending up with a unique and enthralling plot. Fans of the genre, and not only, must certainly check it out.

It's not quite Grim Fandango, but it's close. Totally immersive story, great writing, solid soundtrack. The puzzles tend to be on the easy side and the voice acting is patchy at times, but that doesn't keep the game from being great. If you like adventure games, you really do owe it to yourself to play this game.

Let me get the bad stuff out of the way. First of all, this game is ugly. Much of it looks like it was made in the mid 1990's and the game occasionally glitches upon loading saves. Also, the interface is a bit clunky and there are a few small plot holes. That being said, Gemini Rue is a engaging, well done adventure game. It draws a lot from Blade runner, while clearly being influenced by Cowboy Bebop and Momento. The story itself follows two characters, one in a prison and one in a very noirish city(which may mean that the ugly graphics were intentional). The puzzles are varied and mostly feel organic, and while you can die, the game autosaves at key moments to allow you to try again. An unusual feature of this type of game is the gun battles, which I haven't seen in an adventure game since Mean Streets. While this may sound daunting, you are trained how to shoot early in the game as part of the plot, the difficulty of the fights is adjustable and the battles turn out to be more about rhythm then anything else. Gemini Rue, despite some flaws, is worth checking out for fans of adventure games.
