10/10 would Stalin Again
Started off with a fairly egalitarian society Day 1 and by Day 42 had devolved into a Big Brother, Orwellian police surveillance state complete with book burning, forced child labor, 16 hour shifts, brawling, dueling in the streets, and legalized prostitution. We turned away the sick that came to our doors, executed thought criminals, and exiled food thieves to die slowly out in the storm. But what can I say? The City Survived.

Great game, although somewhat short
This a serious game for serious players! The only downside in my view: Right now the main campaign is surprisingly short and the game has no option to let you continue playing your city after the campaign finishes. However the developers have already announced an endless mode will be coming!

If you like Banished you love Frostpunk
The idea of Frostpunk is quite similar to Banished. You have very limited resources and manpower and must carefully balance these resources. If you keep your generator at full power the whole time without having a good coal supply your people will freeze to death quickly. You can also sign different laws to improve you resource output, like child labour or extended work-shifts. Since you can't reject the laws, you have to think twice whether or not you really need it. In contrast to Banished and in addition to the survival and city building part, Frostpunk has three scenarios (so far), each with its own story and some tough decisions. This gives the game an additional layer I really like a lot. However, this also means that the whole campaign is heavily scripted which might influence the replay value. So far, there is no sandbox mode. For me this is not a big issue and it took me about 4-5 hours to finish the first scenario. The second scenario is somewhat shorter, though (maybe 2-3h). The tough decisions and the constant lack of basic supplies also reminds a bit of This war of mine, which I highly recommend as well. However, all in all Frostpunk is less depressing and feels more like a game. Gameplay-wise it is similar to most city-builder games. You basically play with the mouse and place the building on a radial grid around the generator. A really nice feature is that you upgrade your existing building by simply build the better building on top of the existent one. This way you don't need to demolish the old building first. All in all, I can't recommend this game enough! If you are into survival and city-building games and if you liked Banished (but got bored after everything was running just fine) you should give Frostpunk a try.

100% worth the money
First off, this game looks downright beautiful. The way the snow and ice builds up around the screen and melts again, depending on the current temperature, these constant snow flakes, its all adding to this great atmosphere. The music fits here perfectly, as well. Great job done! The game play itself is demanding, but nothing unbeatable for experienced survival gamers. It may take a few ingame days to really get a solid strategy, but once you get to know the game, you soon find the strategy that fits best to you. And this doesn't have to be morally doubtable at all. I won my first playthrough with 100% hope and no disconsent, with my sick being treated and my kids staying off the labour market. I took everyone in I've found and I barely lost anyone. So its perfectly able to manage. This being said, it requires of course some thinking, some planing, some managing and foremost, some testing. Some laws and techs play out different than expected, and they might suit your way to play more or less. I can't agree to those who claim either path plays the same, there are obvious differences and for me personally, faith works way better than order. It may be short, but those hours feel intense and you might feel the need to redo the one or other scenario over and over again, just to optimize or see other endings. Which are my only 2 points of critizism: 1) The summary at the end is a bit too standart. It didn't really fit my main scenario playthrough at all. There is room for more individualism. 2) My nights turned out way too long playing this game. ;)
