Combat issues

I loved Gothic 1 and 2. The story was great. The leveling up was great. But the fighting... oh boy. Terrible. I loved Risen as well. Grat story and everything but ther combat system... After so many complaints about Piranha bytes combat system you would think they going to improve it, but no. Elex would be a great game if they have had changed the combat system. Great story. Great characters (voice acting not so much, but hey). Great open world. But miserable combat system. Sometimes you get completly lost in combat. And the foes they follow you forever. I'm beeing attacked and my follower does nothing unless he is being attacked. Frustrating. I would have given 5 stars if the combat system were different. So just 3 stars from me.

Severely underrated

It's hard to get into. It's janky. The beginning is brutal without tutorials and monsters that kill you with one hit. I put it down for months after my first try, because the beginning was so off putting. But then I tried again and I got sucked into it. The worldbuilding and story is fantastic and full of love. Progress is really rewarding. If you like RPGs you should give this a try.

The greatest game ever by Piranha

Pluses: 1. Open world 2. Good story 3. Several endings that depend on your decisions during the passage. 4. A lot of type of weapons that changing gameplay and tactical movement Minuses: 1. Bugs, many bugs (like a jam in textures) 2. Bad adaptation of gamepads for fighting more than one enemy. (Sometimes I could not change the opponent and as a result, I was dying)

Wasted potential

The game starts out promising in the first chapter but once you join a faction it goes all down hill. The story makes less and less sense, the cold system get in the way more and more (even if you are not taking any elex potions and just pick dialog optiosn which make sense to you youmight end up cornered in the last chapter). It is such a shame, this game had a great promise (mind you alsoa tone of the usual PB problems) but th elonger you play the shorter it falls. Get Witcher 3 for the price instead.

Not recommended

I have got this game at a 50% discount, after having been tempted by the looks, positive reviews and... the discount. Besides not being a great fan for so-called role-playing-open-word-craft-this-story-rich games, this one looked that it could be a rewarding experience. After 3 hours, I am ready to give up. There are a lot of positives for those who like this kind of games (beautiful large word, exploration seems to be rewarded, role playing with only one unattractive, blunt and stupid character), however the negatives I have encountered are a show-stopper: - melee combat (the only kind you get at the beginning) is slow (OK for axes) and very imprecise - dialogs seem to give choice but are ill-conceived (you discover a body, go to the dead man's friend with no new dialog option until you report to the quest giver to report; then the new option opens). - more than once, I wanted to get more information on a follow-up quest, thus chose a line of dialog. Bam! this line closed a chance to follow-up that quest. At this point I wanted to get more information on the game before spending more time in it: reading reviews I then discovered that you can't complete the game without joining a faction [Bersekers, Outlaws, Clerics]. I would have thought you could play the game as a "free-lance". No faction is really attractive from a story point of view (sure, you can get your upgrades). So... bye Elex. Last : 50$/€ is definitively too high a price. Wait for a large discount.
