Only a few thousand humans managed to escape from the Earth before its collapse in 2150 A.D. They spent the next few years on the terra forming of the red planet, developing new technologies and building up new civilisations. Somehow each of the three fractions "Eurasian Dynasty", "United Civilised States" and "Lunar Corporation" did this independently and separately from each other - but in the year 2160 something strange happens in this new world. Will the ED, UCS and LC join forces or continue their old war against each other?
Besides the usual venues in the solar system, there are some strange looking locations: planets with moving and reflecting liquid surfaces. And beside the standard RTS - resources acquisition, base building and destruction of enemy bases, the year 2160 will have some adventure inspired tasks for the players.

making of Earth 2160
I've never played older parts, but this game left me with good memories. I remember build a bases with defender turrets that made laser "fence" together, killing enemy units, which I liked.
This game has perfect orchestral music from unknown poland composer/singer (I bought it because I love the "End Credits" song Live Your Life :-) ) 4/5
I've just started playing Earth 2160, I'm a regular player of RTS games and most don't really live up to what they boast but Earth 2160 does.
I've never played the other Earth games but if they are half as good as this I would recommend them.
Earth 2160 had depth of strategy with simple game play mechanics, the "Easy to play, hard to master" saying is very relevant here. The units are balanced according to factions, graphics are very good for the low requirements. The game-play is fast and stylish and you are reminded of the Sci-Fi element every time to see a battle, it is truly worth buying.
I am very disappointed.
You shouldnt buy this game. You will have NO multiplayer!
Its not possible to activate the game.
There is no CD-Key to activate it to play multiplayer.
Do yourself a favor and dont buy this game.
GoG.com, you made a big mistake here.
Next time i will buy somewhere else.
Granted Warzone 2100 and the Earth series are not linked however Earth 2160 and Warzone 2100 do share very similar gameplay mechanics, I would have to say that Warzone 2100 is much better (even though much older).
There are many annoying parts of Earth 2160; It has horrible sound actors, it has horrible dialogue (both storyline and from units while playing), it has a horrible storyline although to be fair I haven't finished the game as I couldn't really stomach it past finishing the 1st campaign and then starting on the 2nd. It has bad unit pathing, it doesn't have a great unit command interface.
The unit design isn't too customisable, it just seems to work on a Rock Paper Scissors method with armour and weapons (3 types of armour/weapons) and then you can add shields or auto-repair but not really designing a unit.
It might be a fun RTS to play online but it's certainly not as fun as Warzone 2100.
A decent RTS, with good visuals, and some flaws in game design. Buying Earth 2150 is a better deal.
+ nice visuals
+ very different factions
+ atill some remarks of the old, E2150 feeling
- annoying characters
- overly and unnecessarily complicated tech-tree
- steep learning curve
