Genuinely Exactly What the World Needs
Made by the creators of The Longest Journey and just as much of a thrilling and well-written experience. The negative reviews make it obvious that they do not understand 1: That characters are meant to have flaws, 2: That people who take the bad actions in real life are being satirized, and 3: That the characters are how you choose for them to be, which they would know if they actually played the game. As such they all serve as a great demonstration of the dangers of disinformation that the game itself brings up. When one actually plays the game, it is clear that Dustborn wasn't just some casual project but was written from the heart and with an idea that it wants to convey. The radical leftist idea that words have power and that people should simply think about what they say. If teaching people to listen and be more understanding is "propaganda," then I wish we had MORE "taxes" (artistic grants) going to such games. I would recommend playing on hard mode for the combat to actually mean something. Otherwise they made it skippable. The rhythm segments are enjoyable. Mostly the game is an interactive narrative with branching dialogue and different endings for each of the characters that can be obtained. There is a huge backstory of lore that gives a lot to think about beyond the game itself. The comic book art style is also fun and the music is good.
