DUSK reintroduces you to a world where butchery and bloodshed must be mastered... if you're to survive 'til dawn. Inspired by Doom, Quake, Blood, Heretic, Hexen, Half-Life, Redneck Rampage and all your '90s favorites, while featuring a soundtrack by metal music mastermind Andrew Hulshult.
In three distinct campaign episodes hand-crafted from straight outta the '90s, players will battle through an onslaught of mystical backwater cultists, possessed militants and even darker forces and attempt to discover just what lurks beneath the Earth. Featuring a vast arsenal of badass weaponry including sickles, swords, crossbows, rifles, dual-wielded and double barreled shotguns and incredibly necessary grenade and rocket launchers, DUSK brings unapologetic retro action from start to finish.
In addition to the main campaign, DUSK features an Endless Survival Mode, putting you front and center against wave after wave of merciless enemies.
And for those looking for an extra challenge, DUSK also offers the chance to go head to head online to battle your friends in DUSKWorld arena multiplayer, where darkness hosts the worst of humanity in surprising new ways...
DUSK features cross-play multiplayer and the exclusive THE GOGATIORUM map for endless mode.
Initially went into this game thinking it would be a Quake clone to spend an afternoon or two on. After the first episode of levels, I knew I was getting into something so much more. The tension that builds with the lighting and enemies whispering cryptic phrases, the level design that varies from open to claustrophobic, this game is a love letter to older FPS games while still standing out on its own. Get it.
I just finished playing this game and it has to be one of the best shooter.. no, best games in general i've played in a long time.
Everything from the movement, the level design, the wepons and music is just perfect. I really don't like giving reviews without pointing something I didn't like out but I'm finding it hard to point out any flaws.
I will say this! I really really hope the devs release a map editor at some point cos this game would make a great adition t the moddin scene.
This is great game well worth the money and If they make a second game in this line I would totally buy it.
I just finished running through Doom 1 + 2 and was looking for something to help feed the FPS blood lust. Dusk has delivered on that and then some! Awesome, twitch shooting that makes me feel like I'm 12 years old again.
This one doesn't quite hit the mark for me. It feels like very much like a crappy "realistic environments/edgy tone" Quake TC mod from 1996 with a little bit of latter-day tongue-in-cheek to it - which I guess is the target it's aiming for.
I don't find the maps or gameplay to be particularly interesting or inspiring the way I did in AMID EVIL - partially because that game is trying to emulate the pre-Quake "weirdly abstract but flowing levels in a primitive engine because FPS level design is a fledgling art and there are no rules but flow" aesthetic - which I love.
This game on the other hand is shooting for the "I am 12 and want to model my bedroom/school/church/neighborhood in Quake but make it TWISTED" era aesthetic/map design which came later - which I love less.
So yeah - I don't love the maps, or the aesthetic, and I don't think it quite straddles the line between jokey pastiche and genuine, well-designed, on-its-own-compelling homage to Quake/Blood/Redneck Rampage as well as some do.
It's fine - but I would rather play AMID EVIL, I think. Or Quake 1. Or a good Quake 1 TC, like Nehahra or Zerstörer.
Iam so happy developers are bringing back retro fps games! Dusk, is a very fast fps game, inspired by quake and doom. You wont be dissapointed in this amazing game, gameplay is smooth, and level design is awesom, dont even get me started with the music! If you liked games like quake, and doom, this is a MUST BUY!
