After a deadly circus fire shatters his world and tarnishes his name, Dropsy the Clown finds himself on a journey of self-discovery through a story that harnesses powerful themes of love and kindness. With his father gravely ill and the world turning its back on a once happy-go-lucky clown, Dropsy will need to help those in need, hug total strangers, and unravel dark and shameful secrets from his past on the way to redemption. Oh, and Dropsy can also talk to animals.

Dropsy is a non-traditional take on the classic point and click adventure formula starring the game’s perpetually carefree namesake clown as he explores a richly detailed world full of colorful characters and sinister secrets, doling out hugs along the way. Rather than lead players on a singular narrative path, players are free to choose which avenues of adventure they want to explore in an open world setting and can piece the puzzles and story together however they choose.

Dropsy's resolve to bring back the old school point n' clicker is a success, though it's perhaps a bit too successful, given the overreaching ambiguity in certain areas. Even in spite of its tendency to obstruct the player, it's a beautiful, bewildering, unforgettable game of hugs, love, and hollowing sadness.

Dropsy :)

I played through the whole game, expecting Dropsy's kindness to be invalidated, or his actions to be shown as transient and that anyone who once loved him could easily turn around and try and harm Dropsy but it never happened and I think that is what is so touching about Dropsy. It's sort of messed up, there's grief and hopelessness, people stuck in their unhappy ways not sure how or not willing to change them, a whole cavalcade of human emotion and strife but it is so refreshingly single-entendred and honest. A very kind game I suspected all along to turn on me but never did. The soundtrack completes this package and reveals it as one of those great indie games with an on-point style through and through. I love Dropsy.

Worth the price

Bizarre, funny, endearing, unsettling. Awesome music. Some of the puzzles are obtuse, but that's par for the course on point & clicks. Looks much better in motion if the pixel art puts you off.

This game touches...

This has been called creepy, surreal, emotional, maybe even charming and yes it has moments of all of these. While it has all of those none of them actually encompass it but 2 of them sure try. I think "vibrant" certainly encompasses it. As far as gameplay mechanics: it's a bit like chu-lip if they decided to go for a more classic adventure style and didn't have all that teeth kicking (some puzzles REQUIRED you to take damage for one). You also get an adorable party that you can switch to playing as.

Nice game, but not for everyone

I like this game for its fine low-res pixel art and the psychedelic atmosphere. Also the concept of the not voiced communication is quite original.A nice game, but surely not for everyone.Fingers crossed for the next projects of the authors.

Weird and bizarre, yet highly emotional

If you look at it, it's basically an old-school point and click adventure. It plays like a game from the 1980s, without spoken dialogue and in 640x480 pixels. But the missing dialogue is one of the strong selling point: There's only speech- and thought bubbles with emotions. Somehow this intensifies the whole experience, because you get used to interpreting the events on screen with emotions only. After two oder three hours of gameplay I stopped "thinking words" when encountering other characters. As it is, it's a sweet little game. And I think "sweet" is what describes it best. The story is very confusing at first, but after a while you sorta get what happened. The story of the innocent, mentally challenged clown that is hated by the whole town is incredibly touching (I'm looking at you, graveyard scene!) Controls are nice and easy, nothing special. Only bug I encountered was with switching back and forth between windows (breaks the game). Unfortunately, the ending is really weak and REALLY corny, therefore -1 star. (Honestly, the ending is the definition of corny-ness. Ugh!)
