Set in a huge open world, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen presents a rewarding action combat experience. Players embark on an epic adventure in a rich, living world with three AI companions, known as Pawns. These partners fight independently, demonstrating prowess and ability that they have developed based on traits learned from each player. Players can share these Pawns online and reap rewards of treasure, tips and strategy hints for taking down the terrifying enemies. Pawns can also be borrowed when specific skills are needed to complete various challenging quests.
- Dynamic combat experience – Cut off the four heads of a Hydra, climb atop griffins and fight airborne, or defeat dragons and other creatures by finding out their weaknesses.

The PC port doesn't introduce much new and certain elements could be stronger, but Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen still shines as a uniquely enjoyable RPG.

Character customization, combat, and the weird story and brilliant end-game all make this one of my favorite action-RPG's of all time. Meanwhile, the Dark Arisen changes make the game somewhat more traversable and streamlined, turning a fun but frustrating game into something far more enjoyable. There's nothing really new here, but it's great to finally have the game on PC.

If anything, Dark Arisen reminds me just how much I missed my time with Dragon's Dogma, and how I'd love to see another one in the works. Here's hoping Gransys has more adventures for us in future!

Unique mechanics but not shining
Half way to the top.. some very good aspects and some bad ones. A pity. The pawn system is indeed an unique way to handle things: top and most! The story is generic, but i do not see as a drawback: if you want, you discover pieces around. Simple does not mean bad. The npc's are sticked to their role, and i prefer that way. Small talks, going around just to make you see they exist. Maybe i m old, who cares? Me not. Controls? Play with a ps controller and you'll be ok. Too complicated? No pain, no gain. Original graphics are old and rough? Yes but it a solvable problem easily. I did not like very much my ending.. too quick and without any real conclusion: seems like a rushed part, and that's a shame. The game shows its years here i guess. Side quests? A few are very likeable, the ones "kill X of Y" are in line with the years in which the game was published but nowadays cant be ok.. good thing i did not need to grind for exp a lot. Maybe only the main was enough after all.
