The vanilla game, does not include the Hellfire expansion add-on. The game has a dark, foreboding atmosphere and everything appears vintage, dirty, and smokey; in stark contrast to later games in the series with their colorful palette. Die-hards of the series want a return to the grim colors, and mood -- within the town and weary folk -- of this game. I recommend this to every gamer, as this was the first roguelike RPG that I've ever completed, I was sucked into the lore and stories completely, thus compelled to finish it once I felt connected enough to the game. In terms of storytelling and pacing, this was the game to play in the mid-'90s; all you needed was an hour or two to learn the game, before getting serious and spending hours to finish it. Once you have beaten the game, the challenge isn't over -- to gradually master all the classes, from Warrior (easiest) to Sorcerer (hardest) will grant you the most exhilarating feeling ever. Play all classes, beat the game with them all, and be a grand-master of Diablo! Here are a few tips for new players: + Play as the Warrior class if you're a beginner, since they can carry the heaviest armor and weapons; along with being the easiest class to master. + Press TAB to turn on the Automap, or you'll get lost quickly. + Hits from the "Black Death" zombies in level four, will take away 1 HP of life permanently! Use ranged weapons against them. + Stand just behind doorways, and wait for enemies to enter them & fight you one-on-one (instead of being surrounded).

I absolutely loved playing Diablo back in the day. But, I find it quite funny of people who say things like, "the game controls are clunky" They've ALWAYS been clunky!!! The game is software, it doesn't age!! Yes, I will agree, the game is many years old, but it's the same game all those years ago. So if the game controls of Diablo are clunky now, then they've always been clunky. The only thing that HAS changed, are how today's games have better control setups, SO, it might make Diablo's controls feel "clunky" or different. If you love old games like I do, and can easily conform to that game and the way it was many years ago, you will love Diablo. I never beat the game, so now I get a second chance to take a stab at it. If you're looking for a game that has sparkly graphics and glitter and HD and more of the same bull crap of today's games, then this definitely isn't the game for you. If you love a game where you can get involved in the story, and the graphics that are presented, and just feel the different moods, then this game IS for you.

I am buying the remastered Diablo 1 in the hope that this decision will motivate GOG and Blizzard to remaster Diablo 1’s successor and king of Action Role-Playing Games (ARPG): Diablo 2 (including Lord of Destruction) in 4K (or 1080p). Millions of players wait for this as they remember kindly of their D2 days.

Finaly a Hellifre has been add and for free. Time to unite young warriors and mages to defeat this evil once more and forewer.

Now that they have added the Hellfire expansion, this is perfect! Love replaying this game. The atmosphere is brilliant! Try it, highly recommended!
