This game is one of the good Rouge-lite i've played. The game punishes a little bit hard when one makes a blunder, but that's what the dead cell is all about. you have to try to learn from your mistakes.
One thing that I have to subtract one star from the review is that it says that the gog store has macos version but that is not true.
This is a very enjoyable game and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes roguelites and metrovania. It's got amazing visuals, superb atmosphere, well-done sound and music and a pretty good gameplay. This is probably one of the best games I've played this year.
Its difficulty varies as you progress. It starts out feeling easy, but quickly becomes unforgiving of errors. It gives you space to learn, but demands that you quickly adapt to new situations.
The game likes to keep things fresh as much as possible. The weapons and skills are varied, and will come with random secondary effects that become more powerful as you progress. The enemies are varied as well and will give you plenty of opportunity to test your arms against them.
Despite being early access, there's more than enough content here to resemble a full game. It doesn't have any major bugs or performance issues, although it does have some balance issues and I feel that double jumping needs a bit of a rework. These aren't anything gamebreaking and will hardly, if ever come to ruin your run. It's a solid foundation for the future.
On a last note, the game accomodates speedrunners, as it provides "Timed Doors", behind which lie powerful upgrades and wealth. This way, you can avoid going to secondary areas for loot and instead head straight through levels. There's even a speedrun mode, where players get to go through a daily randomly generated hard map and compete for a place on the scoreboard.
In short, it's well worth your money. I've already gotten many hours of fun and I'm looking forward to more.
Excellent rogue/souls like game.
As others have said, combat is "fast but fair." Each death is an opportunity to learn, and you can never truly go on cruse control.
The unlockables keep you coming back for more, even after a brutal death.
I've bought it on another platform and I really like this game. At first, you'll rage quit a couple of times and it's normal but the game is built so you get upgrades and are more hard to kill and more destructive. You've got to keep going. My beginner's advice would be : keep rolling and learn their move, jump on them to weak them up and learn to block properly, a shield is very useful.
