Originally released by LucasArts in 1993 as a sequel to Ron Gilbert’s ground breaking Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle is a mind-bending, time travel, cartoon puzzle adventure game in which three unlikely friends work together to prevent an evil mutated purple tentacle from taking over the world!
Now, over twenty years later, Day of the Tentacle is back in a remastered edition that features all new hand-drawn, high resolution artwork, with remastered audio, music and sound effects (which the original 90s marketing blurb described as ‘zany!’)
Players are able to switch back and forth between classic and remastered modes, and mix and match audio, graphics and user interface to their heart's desire. We’ve also included a concept art browser, and recorded a commentary track with the game’s original creators Tim Schafer, Dave Grossman, Larry Ahern, Peter Chan, Peter McConnell and Clint Bajakian.
Day of the Tentacle was Tim Schafer’s first game as co-project lead, and a much beloved cult classic! This special edition has been lovingly restored and remade with the care and attention that can only come from involving the game's original creators.

Thanks to the timeless quality of the writing, Day of the Tentacle remains as enjoyable today as it was when first released over twenty years ago. Faithfulness to the original art design is reflected in every lovingly-drawn line and hue of the gorgeous graphical presentation, and the zany humor is consistently spot-on. New players should be aware that the leaps in logic can make a few of the puzzles very difficult, but the witty wisecracks keep the search for solutions tremendously entertaining.

Matthew's review about Tentacle Remaster
There are many giggling gags to laugh about. There are many tricky tasks to fogure out as well. Great and funny muscial tunes, sound effects and characters talking are also included in this amusing remastered video game. Try it.

Once upon a time there was a mansion!
Maniac Mansion II: Day of the Tentacle has been my favorite game for decades. I likely played it every year. It's one of those games I can recall almost every line, which, to me, is very rare. It's hard to describe in words what makes Day of the Tentacle (DotT) that great, because it's an experience like none other. I would wish that everyone would see a playthrough, or even better, play this game. People would understand what's possible with technology these days. TIME is a construct, it's not something nature abides by and all-though DotT is of course fiction, never underestimate the power of make believe and what confidence does to people. If you believe that words are magical, this is a must play. I know I haven't said a thing about the gameplay, but that's because there are other reviews that will tell you that. I'm here to tell you why this game changed my life and my view on life. Yes, it's that great. Like one of the developers say: "It's a lovely game!" Never underestimate the power of the .

Thats the way remaster should be done.
What can i say, its just perfect remster. You have all that you loved in the original plus very subtle touch of modern gaming, and most important you are not forced to play modern way. Just like in Monkey island remake, you just switch between versions on the fly. It can be easly played with x360 controller so i could not resist to re-play game but this time comfortable in chair with glass of whiskey ;)
