Originally released by LucasArts in 1993 as a sequel to Ron Gilbert’s ground breaking Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle is a mind-bending, time travel, cartoon puzzle adventure game in which three unlikely friends work together to prevent an evil mutated purple tentacle from taking over the world!

Now, over twenty years later, Day of the Tentacle is back in a remastered edition that features all new hand-drawn, high resolution artwork, with remastered audio, music and sound effects (which the original 90s marketing blurb described as ‘zany!’)

Players are able to switch back and forth between classic and remastered modes, and mix and match audio, graphics and user interface to their heart's desire. We’ve also included a concept art browser, and recorded a commentary track with the game’s original creators Tim Schafer, Dave Grossman, Larry Ahern, Peter Chan, Peter McConnell and Clint Bajakian.

Day of the Tentacle was Tim Schafer’s first game as co-project lead, and a much beloved cult classic! This special edition has been lovingly restored and remade with the care and attention that can only come from involving the game's original creators.

Thanks to the timeless quality of the writing, Day of the Tentacle remains as enjoyable today as it was when first released over twenty years ago. Faithfulness to the original art design is reflected in every lovingly-drawn line and hue of the gorgeous graphical presentation, and the zany humor is consistently spot-on. New players should be aware that the leaps in logic can make a few of the puzzles very difficult, but the witty wisecracks keep the search for solutions tremendously entertaining.

the best point'n click adventure of all!

I love all Ron Gilbert’s and other good old school point and click adventures such as Monkey Island series, Indiana Jones series, Gabriel Knight, Sam and Max, Grim Fandango, Legend of Kyrandia, Beneath a still sky, etc. etc. but this one is the best of all. Design, style, music, dialogues, characters, sense of humor, story, remastered version engine(!), every detail matters and everything is perfect. Absolutely a gem and masterpiece!

Too many trips to the loo

Played a remaster - remembered absolutely nothing after so many years. Skipping dialogue is buggy and you can miss so many hints. Don't remember this happening in SCUMM/ScummVM. The good: The variety of puzzles makes this game a classic and many things can be done at once which helps to keep frustration at bay. The bad: So much walking, LucasArts' most favorite busywork mechanic. It's very discouraging when you're stuck. The ugly: Cartoonish puzzles can stump you or you'll figure them out by accident. Way sooner than needed.

This game brings backa tonne of memories. It must stand the test of time well because by son was able to get into the puzzling with equal passion. :)

Classic Point and Click

Out of all the point and click classics DotT is, to my mind, the best of the bunch, hands down. The puzles are hard enough to cause you to think, but not as ludicrus as some of it's contemporaries. The updated graphics work really well and keep the art style in tact. I can run through the game in about 2 hours, but if you try and solve it without help from online it's gunna take you quite some time.
