This is a great game, I enjoy the open world, leveling system and combat style. I started playing with the 1.1 patch so I haven't experienced many glitches. This game is highly entertaining. I think trying to adapt a game this complex so it works on consoles was a big mistake and probably the reason for so many negative impressions.
I will begin this review by saying that this game is far from perfect, and as many have already highlighted, there are a ton of bugs and issues. Luckily, I haven't encountered anything game breaking in the 40 ish hours I've spent with the game so far, but there were definitely multiple bugs that broke the immersion.
However, it did not detain much from my overall experience and enjoyment of the game, and I feel that the game is better than the sum of its parts. We did not receive the masterpiece that many were expecting this game to be, but after taking a few steps back, I am really enjoying the overall experience.
I believe things can only get better from here, as CD Projekt are planning on fixing the multiple bugs that are present, all the while adding new content through DLCs. I'll still temper my expectations and not get too excited about it, because we never know what we'll receive at the end of the day.
The game is absolutly awesome! I felt in love since the very beginning. First gameplay changed my world of gaming. I won't forget the first day with Cyberpunk 2077. I'm playing on XBox Series X and the bugs are acceptable for me. Of course it's a shame, that such a game goes to players with that kind of failures. Nevermind, for me all the graphics, story, gameplay cover other problems.
I didn't thought, a man old like me, can go crazy with a game:))) I thought, I'm to old for that - not true!!!
Thank you, guys!
Personaly, I choose the former. Honestly, everything to be said has been said already, so I don't really want to repeat the obvious issues. However I do feel, that some critiques are a tad bit undeserved:
Everybody is comparing this game to GTA. GTA this, GTA that. Why tho? This is not a GTA, and it isn't supposed to be anything like that. Wow, the police, driving etc isn't as advanced as in a 23 years old franchise? *surprised Pikachu face*
If you are triggered by the removed features, you are a naive idiot for falling the marketing, and deserve everything you get. Every early gameplay had the huge 'WORK IN PROGRESS, DOES NOT REPRESENT THE FINAL PRODUCT' caption on them. I was skeptic from the first moment, and I was proven right in the end, but it saved me from the dissapointment.
A lot of people are dissapointed with the lifepath system, mostly because the didn't played pen and paper RPGs. Through flavor texts like these gets your character their background stories, and since Cyberpunk originaly is such a RPG, this feature was implemented correctly. If you don't like it, or were expecting else, that's your problem.
And some of its merits are often not mentioned:
THE LOCALIZATION IS INCREDIBLE. Not just the UI and subtitles are localized, but even the majority if in-game captions, like the news on the TV, or the fast travel terminals. How cool is that? And the sheer number of languages is just wow.
Can we talk about the size as well a bit? The whole game is ~70 GB, which nowadays counts as a beefy CoD update. If anything, the assets are very well optimised.
Imo the biggest issue is, that the management had no clear picture what kind of game they wanted, and so it's just wants to fall apart. Most of the mechanics are not fleshed out, but surprisingly, I really enjoyed the platforming and shooting. Audiovisoualy, this game is a work of art, but it's interactivty is almost sacraficed for this.
Not a timeless classic, but still entertaining, and the goodies OMG
