Even with all the mistakes made at the release of the game, I believe that, after the patches, Projekt Red managed to rehabilitate the game and present another masterpiece (at least) comparable to The Witcher 3.
If they eventually manage to bring fan-made MODs to consoles, I think this game could remain actual for a very long time ( in a similar way to Bethesda's Skyrim)
Many Bad reviews here don't refer to the current game "as it is" so I'm here for some positive feedback. When you buy the game in current state, you will experience a open world you can travel pretty much anywhere and enjoy a living environnment of nps roaming and having many surprises ready for you.
The game has a main story with diffrerent endings depeding on your origin and your decisions taken while you progress on the main quest. but the side quests will bring so much additional content and skillpoints and experience and will send you to every corner of the maps.
You can have romantic relations with some of the npc's - if your decisions lead to that - or make alot of new friends... or ennemies. Or both.
Most importantly - you have the choice to play the way you want. Full rush on main story - sure go for it. Discover every bit of the content and love the developpers built in ? Well...better prepare some more time, then.
I totally agree with the comments written in 2020 and 2021 that in those times, the game was unstable, buggy and partially hard to play without some frustrating moments.
but we are end 2022, almost 2023 - and the game has been patched a few times. And BOY what a difference that makes !
Maybe in a near future - when we might see the arrival of a multiplayer, who knows. Maybe we'll mee @ Afterlife Club for some drinks and some fast cash.
It's not even funny how dull and shallow this game is. It's no wonder people can only talk about bugs in this pile of manure as they are literally the only distinctive thing about this game. Games with more severe bugs used to get a pass because they at least had anything else going for them, like a memorable character, quest or interesting gameplay mechanic.
It's a remarkable achievement to create something so absolutely devoid of any inspiration, vision, not even one singular spark of brilliance. So bizzare at the same time as Witcher 3 was overflowing with those things. Maybe it's the result of everyone with any intelligence and intergity leaving this cesspool of crunch and mediocrity that cdpr had become.
I mean, two years later and the game is finally better optimized for all the platforms, but honestly, the story is so sh*t that even those great performance improvements still won't fix this horrible game's story. Honestly, they should've trashed this game mid development.
The game look great. That's about it or at least that's the positive thing I have to say about it. I read articles that say that the game was finally in the good graces of gamers at Steam but I can't understand why? Everything this game does was done better by another company that took a crack at an open world game. Even if CDPR planned on making this the best Cyberpunk game they could it feels half-assed even without the shitshow that was their launch.
And I wanted this game to be good, more than I care to admit. I loved the Witcher and I loved the third installment (although I never finished it) and I thought that this could be a Red Dead Redemption 2 sort of game from CDPR. But alas it is not. Not even close.
Three years after launch, there are still numerous bugs and crashes so much so that I just play the game to get it over with. Just so I feel less stupid for having to spend money on this when it came out.
I don't even know why I am writing this review. Ever since this was spewed out of CDPR I feel like there is no more chances that an actual good game can be created that won't be disappointing for one reason or another (be it performance, DLCs or in game purchase bullshit).
Even the story is just unloaded onto you, including all the different words that are used in this universe. And if you are like me you'll have a hard time adjusting until you understand what the hell any of it means. I guess my best example is that I didn't understand what "ADS" meant when looking at scopes for guns, until I read in a description of a sniper rifle that this meant aiming down sights. But this wasn't an explanation. It was just flavor text and I accidentally read it. Because ADS was not in the glossary. Go figure. But at least i know what a choom is. Huzzah!
So if you would ask me if this game is worth buying, the answer is simple. No. Watch a Let's Play instead and spend your money on something that makes you happy or at least gives you the feeling of a good investment.
