If you're expecting a masterclass in how to make a PC RPG off the back of The Witcher 3, this is not it. The world feels shallow and disconnected, and the execution is all over the place. Maybe in a year the performance issues and bugs will be worked out - but the lifeless world will remain.
Summary: I went into this having seen all the videos and lead up to this game. Through all of that I came in expecting GTA but with Cyberpunk themes. To a degree I was right, but in a lot of ways I was wrong. The FPS gameplay, stat/perk system, and overall build variety of the character really is an amazing thing. The story adds a good amount of mystery and hooks to keep me coming back. Having put over 60+(lost count) hours into it, and still plan on doing more I'd say it was more than worth the money and my personal favorite for this year.
Graphics: 5/5 -- The world looks amazing, with the different sections of the map having a different feel. Art style and the rule of cool is in full force here. Car designs not make functional sense? Sure, but it looks awesome.
Gameplay: 5/5 -- While not all cyberware is as useful as the next, it all helps in building whatever character you want. Want to be a hacking god? Go int focused. Think hacking is boring, but wanna chop everyone up? Sandevistan OS + Mantis arms all the way. Good shooting, good combat, and many ways to complete said combat.
Audio/Voice: 5/5 -- Admittedly I don't have a great ear for rating sound effects, but the music is amazing. Even more amazing is the voice work. All the voices(Keanu Reeves especially) really do nail the characters.
Story: 5/5 -- The story really does a good job at presenting a Cyberpunk style story. It may not be the most original, but it's thoroughly enjoying to learn each new part and play through.
Cons -- All games have cons, no game is perfect. This game suffers from sharing a genre, slightly, with other open world games. That brings in expectations like car customization(as an example). There are things I would've liked because other games provided those features. Driving AI isn't GTA quality, but then again this game isn't really about driving. In the end the game's positives outweigh the negatives so much that I'd still rate it a 5.
Tl;dr this game is preem.
The graphics are great- Its a fun shoot-em up; but it's a bugged, over-hyped 60 dollar GTA clone.
The Pros -
Story-telling; Ok for what is, and not as it was advertised.
Gameplay; Fun shoot-em up. I enjoyed it somewhat...
GTA-esque; If you like GTA 5 then this is a game for you.
World & Level Design; Uhmaezin, uhmaezin eye-candy.
Graphics; Great, but at what cost...
Animation; Bugged, yeah, but it's cool seeing how animation improving to be more realistic.
Gameplay; Fun shoot-em up. I enjoyed it somewhat...
The Cons -
False-advertisement; The hype about this game was that it was an RPG. Yeah,... no.
Rushed Development; Resulting in bugged & useless AI, gameplay, world, and impractical PC controls. Yay!
Inhumane developer crunch-time; Yikes, making me reconsider supporting the company. If the developers should decide to unionize, I full-on would support it!
Story-telling; Bad use of RPG elements. Just point A to point B, with the half-assed illusion of choice. change, and personality. No advertised replay value at all.
Ok Level Design; Just feels like lost potential for fun game play mechanics, somethings missing.
Moral of the story... companies are not your friend. Don't be a tool like the rest of us; who humanized a company and wasted their hard-earned cash; all just for the desperate taste of escapism from quarantine. If a developer is reading this, I'm sorry you slaved for something that could of been great: but your employer was too dumb and mismanaged it. Hope you guy's unionize and fight back.
