This game is in alpha stage, they should fire QA team.
Cons:
- Bugs
- Poor optimization
- The story is worse than in Witcher 3 (a whole different level)
- Side quests are boring
- Poor character customization
- Lack of vehicle customization
- Poor weapon customization
- Silencers are useless in this game
- Weapon levels (white, green, blue,...), and problems with the update (component prices)
- Poorly designed clothes/armors
- Vehicle driving model
- Ugly graphics in some places (you can see the quality differences)
It might have been a great game, but its potential was wasted (bugs, bad storytelling, underdevelopment in almost every area).
Been playing 100 hours and I have to say the game is awesome.
The plot is very deep, a dark and twisted future where people dares to face the boundaries of humanity and cybernetics. The characters are compelling, everyone struggles their own fight and definitely you can influence their paths.
The gameplay is also complex but flexible, you're able to polish your style in skills (attributes) as well as weapons. There are a lot of attributes you can upgrade for you style as well as perks.
The top notch of the game are cybernetics, you can customize your body to become a living weapon. There are many mods according to your style.
Besides the glitches the game was playable in my laptop with good graphics (GTX 1060 W/3GB, SSD, 16 RAM, i7 7700HQ). My first run was a streetkid with a katana as my primary weapon, now I intend to play as Corpo for my second run and romance with someone else.
After playing for almost 70 hours, since launch, the game feels like a classic case of a premature release. I'll start with the good parts:
- A high quality story backed up by great characters, The main quests and the side ones related to it are top notch. CDPR has again proven to have the best writing team in contemporary AAA gaming.
- The game is absolutely gorgeous. I am not able to play it at ultra but even so, it looks top notch. Everything looks absolutely amazing, the atmosphere and design set a new mark. I haven't been so impressed by a game's visuals since Metro Exodus.
- Incredible sound design and music. They made up an entire punk rock band just for this game.
- Beautiful range of cars and bikes. It's like having dozens of "Roaches" to choose from when riding around town.
- A large replayability potential thanks to the intelligent quest design and the many build possibilities. The skill tree is acomodating enough to handle many play styles and the build variety is bigger than Witcher 3's.
The bad parts
- Technical glitches and bugs are still present as of 1.05. The game is fully playable but they still have some ways to go
- The police system is absolutely attrocious. Needs a complete overhaul.
- There are practically no activities outside of the questing zones. You can't perform random activities and this breaks immersion
- The general AI is poor both for random NPCs as well as traffic
- Car handling is poor.
Subjective:
Don't go into this game expecting GTA 6. It is NOT a sandbox, it is NOT a TES title with guns. It doesn't have the sheer open endedness of those titles. I think this will hurt it in the long run and CDPR should do a better job of explaining their design goals. I think it was an over-ambitious project.
Nevertheless, I am hopeful that they will turn this around. This is not Fallout 76 or Rome 2 TW at release. Under the bugs and the questionable state of some mechanics lies a fantastic game.
The game is nice but lacks many core factors.
The Good
1. Nice narrative and story
2. I love the combat and how you can customize the character.
3. Liked cars and their designs.
4. I personally loved to use the mantis blades.
5. Like how the game world is set and how there is verticality to the map.
The Bad:
1. The game has bugs that destroy the experience. I Personally had a bug where my character fell on the ground and got up but won't move I had to load a save file. Some other bugs were NPC disappearing from the screen or the NPC glitching into doors and vehicles.
2. Driving is fun but with no cars on the road If you hot a car the possibility of your vehicle glitching into the NPC car is high. The driving could use some changes but I doubt there will be any.
3. I played on High settings and the game looked bad when you look at things at a distance.
4. The cops are dumb and broken there is no penalty for committing a crime. If u take cover while fighting a cop in a house or inside a building the cops will spawn behind you or in the wall.
5. The enemies are also locked in a specific area and won't leave it sometime you can stack all of them and kill them in one go.
The Bad I heard but didn't encounter:
1. The game crashes if your load save file is above 8 Mb and corrupts your save file. So you cant just max out one character or grind a single character on a single playthrough, which sounds dumb as the world and crafting option is big.
Overall the game is OK and I would say it's a solid 6/10. It's way better than fallout and Skyrim, and I hope CDPR puts more effort into the game but the reputation is tarnished and doesn't live up to its promises and dreams given to people.
