Potential to be great

I genuinely feel bad for all the devs that worked on this game. They deserved better than to have their game release in this state. This could have easily been one of my favorite games of all time, had it not had such obvious gaping holes from cutting content and a menagerie of bugs that ruined the experience more often than not. I've lost count of how many times I've had enemies shoot me through walls, see me through the back of their head, have missing dialogue, walk through walls, and more. It's a buggy mess and choosing to play on hard difficulty made it that much worse, with even basic enemies requiring 4 point blank headshots with a shotgun to go down. There's even a moment where the doors blast off their handles, you're surrounded by enemies and a big named bad guy in a room that anyone can pick out as being an obvious boss fight space... and then it just cuts to 20 minutes later with the guy dead and you in the middle of escaping. This was where it really hit me just how much was going to be cut from the game for the rest of the playthrough and contexualized it all. And the worst part is, the story, at moments, really got me. Especially the ending. The world? Still really cool, absolutely beautiful. And I grew to like every character in the game for one reason or another. I really, truly hope this game isn't dead and going to get the love it deserves one day. It needs some fixing and never should have come out in this state, that much is clear, but a lot of the hate is getting overblown just because people are disappointed. It's not a horrible game at its core, it just needs a bit more time in the oven. To anyone looking to play this, wait a month or two for patches. Even if you already own it, just wait. You'll be glad you did. And to any devs, try not to let all this get to you. You crunched all year long and did the best you could. It's too late to save the game's launch but not too late to change how it'll be remembered in 5 years. You'll be fine.

OK game in a vacuum

If I put aside the fact that this game was made by the same people who made Witcher 3, that it was in development for 8 years AND ignoring the marketing campaign - yes it's a pretty good game, bugs aside. ..But we're not in a vacuum. They're a talented studio with the expertise, time and budget that by all accounts should have done better.

Fun, if you can get past many problems

I'm 40 hours deep and can say I've enjoyed the game, but boy it had it's ups and downs. Like many have pointed out this game is buggy, there were many times I had to restart the game due to losing sprinting, or dialog suddenly stopping and other stuff. The first act almost ruined the game for me. Tutorials didn't teach me the mechanics well, it felt very restrictive and the story didn't engage me until the act was almost over. I love this game now, but I almost quit never to come back during this first act. Story started to engage me more near the end of the first act which kept me playing, then things finally opened up. The open world was fun to explore, although rather annoying due to not being able to drive for quite some time due to one of the quests. I gradually learned how to use some of the mechanics like quickhacking and began to have fun. At this point I can say it was worth it and I look forward to exploring more and more of the content, but I can't blame anyone who didn't get as far as I did. Bugs, inconvenient controls that can't be changed, and a poor first act are a lot to try to get past.

Disappointed and frustrated

Good graphics, good side quests but the main plot is depressing and frustrating, it's not about your character and no matter what choices you make, you'll end up the same way. The most disappointing part is the immersion, the city is beautiful but it feels empty, the passers-by are simply dead, they are like furniture, if you try to talk to them they will send you to go f**k yourself. RPG components simply don't exist, you can't interact with the city except in 2 or 3 specific events. And there are many more things that feel like they're half done or simply taken away from everything they promised. I've finished the game once and I don't think I'll ever play it again, I feel like I've wasted my time. A lot would have to change in the game with updates and DLC's for that.

Needs lots of updates

There is a good game in there but it because of all problems it's hard to enjoy. I've mostly only done small quests (the blue symbols on the map) and avoided the main story. I was hoping for updates to fix things sooner but I realize this will take 6-12 months. Lesson learned that no matter how much you trust a developer never pre-order. Wait a few days and see how it goes. I will give this another chance later for sure when it's fully updated. As things are now I don't recommend this game. Wait until it's finnished.
