The game starts out nice, but never gets fun. Pointless sidemissions, main missions with mostly boring, flat dialog, you following an NPC then a little action before more dialog about unimmersive things.
Extremly flat and uninteresting story.
Unskippable dialogs to make the game feel longer than it is etc... Don't buy it....
I had a lot of expectations on the game. A few came true but many came not true and overall it is a good shooter with rpg elements and a neat story. Not more, not less.
Short and sweet as of writing this game is rated at 3.7 on GOG, I think that's close to fair for the thirty dollars I paid for it and what I've gotten out of it so far but the wanted system in this game is a joke and ultimately I feel like the open world part of this is a waste of time. The scripted missions are a blast, the quickhacks against enemies in open combat are tons of fun in conjunction with firearms. The game looks amazing, no matter what anyone can say the multitude of ads and sounds and colors in the game make it beautiful to see in motion. But to autistically refer back to the open world part, driving sucks using keyboard and mouse, and since this is a fps I'll be goddamned if I'm going to keep plugging my 360 controller back in and out each time I want to drive. I don't understand the point of crafting really at all. I wish when I pressed "R" to change radio while driving an indicator appeared at the top of the screen to tell me what station I was on. Damage to cars is laughable still, while their interiors are immacutely modeled.
Thanks for reading my incomprehensible rant, want the tl:dr version? Buy it on sale and you'll be golden. Don't go in expecting GTA:IV's level of polish, don't expect GTA:V's level of polish and certainly don't expect RDR2's level of polish. They wanted to be Rockstar but ultimately couldn't even be Volition. On a sidenote RIP Red Faction.
Is the game terrible? No. Not at all. Bought the game to give it an honest shake, with all the controversy surrounding it, I felt it would be the most honest to look at it myself.
As of now, I played about 86 hours of cyberpunk during which I finished the main story, all the side stories, and almost all the gigs.
The game is far from perfect. While the open world side I think has been vastly overhyped, the story and sidestories are really awesome. I enjoyed every moment of this game even with the bugs. Night city is very beautiful, sadly it’s not that detailed. The characters are well written. Its combat system is very good and smooth (except when you're fist fighting), it has a lot of weapons, powerups, and tech hacks. In my opinion, every ending kind of sucks (they don’t feel like endings) but hopefully we will get something better with expansions/future dlcs.
Make sure you play on PC with quality speakers or headphones, it's worth every penny.
