I've enjoyed my time spent with it.
It's fun. I spent almost 3 hours with it and enjoyed it thoroughly. It's well priced when on sale and I would feel content with my purchase even if I never go back to it. That being said, I probably will play more of it. I'm still in chapter one and starting to unravel the story a bit. If you're not sure, try the demo, it's free!

Aesthetic world building done well
People might have mixed preferences about games like these. As a roguelite kind of game Crying Suns works pretty well, although I can see why some people get bored fast when grinding things. Nevertheless, Crying Suns is a very strong game in other aspects than just the mechanics. Personally the melancholic post-apocalyptic sci-fi story set in cosmos was just the itch I needed to scratch, along with the strategic battles giving some variation to the game's pace. Aesthetically I really enjoyed the artsyle and music too. (I also recommend listening to OST on deluxe edition/Spotify/etc, it has also some additional parts not heard in-game.) Storywise the game is carefully built and the lore seems immersive when you take your time to read it. This in mind you could consider how much you can get out of this kind of game. At least I got just what I wanted.

Great game with great visuals
Plays pretty great, polished gameplay, reminds me very much of FTL with an actual story. Visually extremely well done, and the soundtrack is dope. My biggest gripe: the way shipweapons work and the way you "customise" your ship. Long story short: there is a bunch of different ships, everyone has a fixed upgrade roster, e.g. ship A can't upgrade weapons to bigger than 2, ship B can't have more than 2 squadron bays, etc. Interesting, but just a tad too restrictive. Ship weapons are either ship-to-ship weapons that deal reduced dmg to squadrons or ship-to-squadron guns that have area, additional effects and are rather interesting to play with, but deal NO dmg to the enemy battleship. Not really bad in itself, it just seems a bit half-baked for what otherwise seems like an amazingly well done and polished game.

Tedious battles spoil the rest of it
Wonderful atmosphere art direction let down by shallow and repetitive battle mechanics. Feels like a critical mistake in a game that relies on your willingness to invest in run after run in order to progress. Battles get dull quickly, after which there is little else to hold your interest.

Played it on Android, a rouguelike in space like ftl. Battle sometimes are too long. But over all Is a good game.
