Its simple, imagine a playable third person version of a 15 hour movie that is a crossover of a cold war secret bureau setting and the twilight zone...with some light Dark Souls aspects,
Like it?
The only con i find is some difficulty spikes, but hose only make you get good or give up.
Damn near perfect game.
For me 10/10
It's quite an interesting thing to see but a lot of the game is designed to waste your time in punishing ways. For instance there's a jukebox that opens up a kind of gauntlet you pay to get into, introduced midway through the game. Go in there and you have to clear four areas under a time limit. Each area has its own obscure game mechanics that mostly haven't been encountered previous and aren't explained. Take to long on the first couple of islands and you simply won't have time to complete the other two, it will be impossible, but the game will let you flail at it regardless then boot you out when the time is up with zero reward. This is just one example but this poorly considered game design permeates through the whole experience.
The uknown aurea arround the game, the mysterious things you discover as you get deeper and deeper into the bureau gets you thinking non-stop "What am I doing?", but you don't get lost as the game smoothly shows you what to do, also add new enemies accoding to the history progression without getting you unsurprised or bothered.
About the whole world (involving Alan Wake and this game), I don't know much, but what the game shows through files and dialogues gets you involved and immersively into the Game's word for sure. The Combat and the mechanics are not complex, tho not easy as you must show the least skills to battle.
One of the best games I paid for in months.
the graphics always had a smudge even after the latest rt update and everything is high and ultra in settings
and i never liked back track games and supernutral
Repetitive gameplay consisting of spamming the same five enemies over and over again even sometimes 30 seconds after I cleared them. Dumb fetch quests, bland story, loads of collectibles 99% of which are not worth reading, the worst map layout I've possibly ever seen in a game, I spent more time looking for the right way and dealing with the overbearing enemy spam than actually playing the game. Unintuitive/broken controls (the fight with hartman was bugged for me as I couldn't stagger him). Only good thing is the graphics.
