What kind of AAA release has a known issue with the game crashing 100% of the time while fighting a boss and doesn't fix it for over a year? What an absolute joke. The game itself is fun but this is absolute garbage.
let me start by saying that Max Payne 1 is probably my fav game of all times for all the amount of times i replayed it and continued to enjoy it. Alan Wake was a very tense and enjoyable game, setting and stoy. I skipped Quantum Break as the direction of story and gameplay didn't really click with me from what I've seen. I bought this as it received a lot of praise from most people.
Positively, the mood and setting of this game remains good. The start of the game is very intriguing and the questions you have about the story keeps you going to know more and finish the game. Sound design and graphics are very good and it seems to be running decently and being optimized for the most part on a decent PC. Unfortunately this is about it when it comes to positives.
The gameplay is very repetitive and disengaging. everything looks modern and sleek but Jesse's movement and attacks feel so archaic and stiff. Gunfight is accurate and fun but the enemy AI is just woeful. The story gets worse and more cliche the more you get on with it with silly dialogues and very bad facial animations with Remedy taking the weird decision with zooming in on their face with every dialogue to watch their stiff face even clearer. The voice acting is very good but their delivery feels mostly uninterested as if they are not caring about what is happening in the oldest house. i truely enjoyed the performancs of Emily Pope , the Janitor Ahti and Langston but otherwise it was a snoozefest. to add more insult to injury, I had the anchor boss fight CTD that i couldnt get pass but by using a trainer and one shotting the boss.
I hope Remedy focuses more on gameplay than delivering a cinematic story when its clear that they dont have writers to carry their games without engaging gameplay (and even if they did, its a video game not a book or a movie). I hope you all had a better time than i did . ill just go back to play Max Payne with a broken heart of how the mighty has fallen.
Game crashes ESPECIALLY at the part where you are fighting the "clock pac man". Extremely dissapointed this hasnt been fixed when its been out for over a year. BUYER BEWARE OF CRASHES. Playing on PC, no online fixes have helped at all.
I really enjoyed the game, I was excited to play it finally and see what the game was like. After having completed the game, I was extra excited to replay it and use what I had learned late game to my advantage earlier in the game, to extend the play time and relax the dificulty having an idea of how to play.
To my disappointment and chagrin, I could not start a new game, there is a "new Game" option, but when selected it only starts you over in the state of the game having already been beaten and everything unlocked and discovered. None of the quests activate properly, None of the control points are locked, the missions become bugged when I attempted to re-play them, either not updating, completeing, or even triggering to begin them. Once I found that the Evade training quest was active, but not operating beyond the quest activation G option, I gave up knowing that without Evade, there is no point in going further. When I entered the break room, there was no red light flicker, the floor never collapsed, it's just an empty room.
I gave the game 2 stars because of the absolute lack of any replay value, I have over 3k hours in witcher 3 and discover new things every time I play it, for example.
