Mankind has finally learned how to explore the outer regions of space using wormhole technology, but Man is not alone in the Void. Two other races are also exploring and exploiting the cosmos for its resources and living space: the Mantis, an insect-like race whose technology relies on large numbers of quick fleets, and the Celaerans, beings of energy cursed by their creators to spend their lives in strange, armored canisters. Amazing classic + windows 8/10 fix

This is by far my favorite game. a fast paced RTS in space. its pretty easy to learn but there's a good amount of depth for all three races that you can play as. fair warning though there are a few bugs and balance issues, but this is a great game far a LAN party. (on a side note some people found a pretty easy manual fix to get CFW to work on windows 8 - 10) here's what they did. "I got it by modifying the conquest.ini In the [System] section(under USER do not modify), I changed: IRenderPipeline = RendSft to: IRenderPipeline = Rend0" Enjoy!

Windows 8 and 10 solution below!

This game is from my childhood, 20+ years later I'm still playing it as it's a timeless classic. RTS games of the present simply do not compare to the fun I have on CFW. There is an issue where the game crashes upon booting up on Windows 8 & 10 devices, I have a solution to this problem which works flawlessly (credit goes to ArcticAsylum on YouTube): This is how to fix the game on Windows 8 & 10: Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Conquest Frontier Wars Right click the "conquest.ini" file and open in Notepad Scroll down to [System], and where it says IRenderPipeline = RendSoft change it to IRenderPipeline = Rend0 Save the file, exit & run CFW. To fix the resolution issue, open the "Options" menu in-game, go to Graphics, adjust the resolution to your screen size, exit the game & reboot! Hope this game survives future generations, I will surely see myself playing this game for endless years to come.

Amazing yet overlooked

It baffles me how little known this RTS gem is. Conquest: Frontier Wars is one of the most refined games of its genre, and is among my top three favorites. It did several things no other game had done before, and did them incredibly well. I'm unfortunately not allowed to make a full review, but this game took concepts like true fleets (as opposed to mere numbered control groups), multiple concurrent real-time battle maps, and supply management, and effectively perfected them. Anyone who is a fan of RTS games absolutely owes it to themselves to play this game.

Using the CQFixpatch_AllinOne willallow you to play on W10. Check GOG game discussions for directions. The download get a positive return but is safe to use. Great game.
