Study the enemy's movements, carefully develop a plan, synchronize your men, then launch them on a swift and fierce attack using all your power and skill. You have been selected for active service in the Commandos Corps, and must now mobilise in dangerous missions. You will be given the opportunity to push your daring and tactical ability to the limit. As the leader of a small elite unit operating deep within enemy territory, you will experience real challenges and missions.
Clever strategy has never been so furiously action-packed.
Includes Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines and its addon Commandos: Beyond The Call Of Duty
Tactical gameplay that is both extremely challenging and extremely captivating
A broad range of missions based upon both actual history and popular World War II movies
Commandos is not a squad tactical shooter. It is a puzzle in which each mission has you deconstruct a scenario, and complete tasks with your severely outgunned soldiers. There is no shame in quicksaving, since this is about figuring out the map, and not necessarily reflexes (well, not ALL reflexes.)
And when you plan comes together, and all your soldiers come out alive, you'll feel pretty accomplished.
Back when i was a little lad this game really got on my nerves but i still come back to it. and now im a big lad i happy to say that hasnt changed and i love every moment of it. a must buy for ww2 nuts or any nut
Should you buy this? Here is a quick test:
--I like a challenge and don't give up easily.
--I prefer to think before I act.
--I enjoy defeating Nazis.
If you can agree with all three statements, then buy the game. Players control the action from an isometric view and will need to juggle many characters at once. It's not a fast-paced game, thought, so that isn't the challenge. What is difficult is learning the patrol routes and knowing the right man for the job.
The task is typically demolition of a certain object and even 12 years later the explosions are satisfying. You'll use lethal and non-lethal takedowns on enemies, but be careful where you leave the bodies! Some missions give no room for error with the alarm (being spotted by enemies) causing instant failure.
It's difficult, sure. But the reward of seeing a "Mission Complete" screen is all the more satisfying. There might still be a demo around if you need to try it out, but I'm sure you'll like it if this resonates with you.
