Way too expensive!
The game itself is great, I loved it back in the 97. However this game is today 25 years old and is very short to complete. So almost 100zl is a very high price for this title. A half of it would be fair.

Pre Time Splitters overshadowed by Quake
Loved this game when I first got ahold of it, to see it on gog was a instant must buy. The game holds up for a retro shooter and adds a few things you don't see in games of that era. -Full aiming, with headshots. -Corny dialog with full 3d actors. -Cast of enemies that make use of your vertical aim, low on the ground, or flying in the sky. -Has a unique feel to it compared to quake, always stood out to me and still holds up today. Almost has a quake 2 / duke nuke-em cross over vibe. -Double shot gun, ammo based no reload. -Fast paced movement, with jump. -Puzzles and hidden elements in the level design. -Full map with fog of war to help you find those missing areas, or hidden passages. If your into the shooters from that era, it is a must for any collector. Underdog that slipped through the cracks but influenced others from behind the scenes. (in that way it reminds me of thrill kill) It worked for me on windows 10 with out any issues. Love these old games prepared for modern use. Going to be playing this on my atomic pi for sure. So stoked to get this in my collection, one of my old time favorites. Ty gog!

So not worth the asking price
Even back in 1997, Chasm was average. Sure, back then we didn't have internet and the ocean of games we have today, so if you picked this up by accident after only playing Doom, it was probably the bee's knees. But the same year also gave us Turok, Dark Forces 2 and Quake 2; and that's just naming the 3D shooters. Competition was stiff and when compared with other similar games of the time, Chasm falls short. But it's not a bad game. If you like old school shooters then it's worth a try. Not at this price, though. It's clear the new publisher paid a pretty penny for the license and wants their investment back. Good luck with that. Quake 1 Remastered is half the price. Maybe get it on sale. That's what I might do.

Great, but not the first
This game is great. It's very technologically innovative for its time and the combat is fine enough. Your starting weapon is a single-barrel shotgun, and the game uses 3d models instead of sprites, but that's about all it has in common with 'Quake'. The plot is a bit messy, but it does kinda work. I wouldn't call it "Slav Quake", because that honour, I believe falls to 'Hrot' (which is a modern boomer-shooter developed by a Czech guy on a custom engine written in Turbo Pascal). 'Chasm: The Rift' is more like 'Timesplitters', but actually predates it. Something that should be noted is that 'Chasm: The Rift' is advertised on here as being the first East European boomer-shooter, but that's not quite true. This game came out in 1998, but there was actually a Russian 'Wolf3D'-clone called 'Подземелья Кремля' ('Dungeons of Kremlin'), which was released in 1995, and later a quasi sequel (I'm not sure if it's genuinely a sequel or just a different game from the same developers that was sold as a sequel) was released in 1997, called 'Смута: Ожившие мертвецы' ('Turmoil: The living dead', aka 'Dungeons of Kremlin 2'). I know that Russia is unpopular nowadays, but credit where credit is due. What 'Chasm' is the first in though, is that it's an actually complete and well-made East European boomer-shooter, compared to both 'Dungeons' games, which were slightly more advanced than 'Wolf3D', but were effectively glorified demos. Also, wasn't 'Chasm: The Rift' effectively abandonware? Why is it suddenly being sold, and for 10.50$, to boot?

By Far the Best Way to Play a Classic
I honestly thought I was the only person who played this game back in the 90s and actually enjoyed it, so I'm so happy to see it getting a second life via a "remastered" version here. It's still the classic game you (probably don't) know and love, but it's been updated with fluid, full KB+M controls (with none of that edge-sticking weirdness that Szymanski's version had), vertex warping has been fixed, and it runs flawlessly at high refresh-rates on the potatoest of potato cards. So come on. Let's crank it up to hard, shoot off some limbs, and laugh at the weird translation foibles together. Then we truly "can be considered winners".
